How can I spike my hair so that it isn't shiny. I want it to be texturized and feathery.?

well. i'm not sure, since i'm a girl but, i spike my hair like this:

First off, I got a razor cut, and a point cut. so that my hair was really layered. Second, I don't wash my hair everyday, because I've found that it's MUCH easier to style when it hasnt been washed.

When I get up I straighten my hair. All of it.
Then, I hang my head upside down and hairspray it a little bit.
And, still with my head held upside down, I straighten it going down. I do that for a while, and when I lift my head back up its sticking up. So I just adjust it so that its sticking up the way I want it to, and then I use alot of hairspray to hold it.
I use Aussie Instant Freeze, because it's the best[for me]

but i guess it depends on your hair length/texture

Use a matte finish styling wax or putty... It won't leave a shine like a gel would.. .Also, when you wash your hair.. put 1tblsp.. of baking soda in the shampoo you use it will take the stuff out of your hair.... good luck
