A good deep pore cleansing facial will help clear away blackheads. An aesthetician will use steam to open your pores and a tool to extract them. She will also apply several masks to help loosen the dirt in your pores and to calm your pores.
However, facials can be expensive so here's some information to help you maintain your skin at home.
The key to getting rid of black heads is to clear away old skin cells to unblock pores & get rid of excess oil. Products w/ benzoyl peroxide will help to kill germs and reduce oiliness.
Mechanical exfoliation is good for clearing pores and steam facials will help open pores & loosen black heads.
Here are some product recommendations, home remedies & facial how tos:
1) Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask - has benzoyl peroxide & clay. I prefer to use it as a mask. Neutrogena's product line w/ salicylic acid is good too.
2) Oxy 10 Face wash
3) Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads - has exfoliating side that will help remove dead skin cells
Other remedies:
Add a bit of water to 2-3 tblsp. of baking soda to make a paste & use it as face scrub. Use gentle pressure.
Mixture for exfoliating face wash: 6 crushed uncoated aspirins, mixed with the liquid facial cleanser at hand (I usually use either cetaphil or tersaseptic), and 1-2 drops of tea tree oil.
You can crush up 6 plain, uncoated aspirin tablets and mix it w/ a little water to make mask. Alternatives: mix half a teaspoon of crushed uncoated aspirin tablets with Queen Helene Mint Julep mask or aloe vera gel to use as a mask.
Use about 6 uncoated tablets, witch hazel, tee trea oil, and aloe to make a thin paste.
For toner:
8 ounce bottle of distilled water add four uncoated aspirin
or
mix of 1/2 water, 1/2 witch hazel, 15 aspirin, and 2 drops of tea tree essential oil and 2 drops of rosemary essential oil
(from makeupalley.com)
Steam facials at home will help too. Here's how to DIY: http://www.ehow.com/how_2564_give-yourself-facial.html
Good clay masks to use during a facial:
1) Beauty w/o Cruelty clay mask
2) plain Milk of Magnesia - apply thin layer, let dry for 10-15 min.s before rinsing off
3) Origins charcoal mask

A once a month facial will help with the Blackheads but if your case is more severe you can try a Laser Facial. This treatment is a lot stronger and effective than a facial because it really takes ALL your impurities out. The treatment cost approx. $125-$150 depends where you go (spa or dermatologist). After you do this, you need to clean your face constantly. It also helps to eliminate brown spots from the sun and helps regenerate the dead cells in your face. Good luck!

What helps me most with blackheads is using a facial mask. It's like a clay that hardens over your face and sucks out all the impurities with it- like blackheads, dead skin, etc...) I use the one from Oil of Olay. You only use it 2-3 times a week, and it leaves your skin feeling really clean and fresh.
Facials help, but they start to become real pricey, esp. if you only wanna target blackheads. Try the mask first, and if it doesn't get better, then try the facials.

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.
Source:
A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.
The secret is never to touch the spots
Tips on how to treat acne and achieve perfect clear skin in as little as 7 days?
