braces??????????

i am getting braces tommorrow and i don't know if it hurts???? (i am so nervous)

Dont be nervous, there is no reason to be. Before you go, maybe put on some chapstick because they will put a lip stretcher on. And, maybe take some tynenol. First when you get there they will put on bands on the back molars. They will have you bite on a bite stick, and it doesnt really hurt. Next they do something caalled "etch" to get the cotton (from putting the bands on) off. Then theyll do the brackets, the square things. That doesnt hurt either. Then the wire, through the brackets. Then elastics which you get to pick the color: heres a color picker:

It wont hurt right away, but a couple hours later, you might get some pressure. Then at night, sorry to say, it gets a little worse. A couple days later you will be fine.

It's really more of a tenderness than an outright pain. I've had much worse pain before braces.
But the first few days you will feel pressure on your teeth and won't be able to bite down into or chew anything because they will be sore.
After the first week you'll notice they get better and you can eat whatever you want (except for what they warn against) and then you get to go through it again when they adjust them.

I got braces sunday.
MAKE SURE YOUR ORTHO CUTS THE ARCHWIRE SHORT ENOUGH.
It's hell if they make it too long.
Initially it doesn't hurt getting them put on, it's just annoying
because they use cheek retractors and put cotton under your tongue.
But the first night and beginning of the second morning are the worst.
It's like if you do a ton of crunches, it doesn't hurt too bad that day
but you sure as hell are sore the next.
My teeth are still pretty sore but I can eat a PB&J

to tell yo uthe truth. it does hurt just a little bit for a while.
i just got braces a while ago. they look a little thicker. oh, yeah and the cement tastes pretty grosss. also, youll eat much slowere!! i had a salad, and it took me 1 hour to eat 1/10 of the salad and i was done! its like a braces diet! lol.

I had them. It doesn't hurt when they put them on, but when I woke up the next day my lips were swollen to about 5 times their size & it was a bit painful. And every month when they were adjusted it was sore for a couple days. It wasn't really bad. Good luck. 2D

ok. i had braces for 3 years so i know ablot about them. yes i may hurt when you get them on the cool thing about them is that you get to choose differnt colors to put on them. and after a couple day you may talk a little differnt but they are cool. and if you hay any other questions about braces email me

braces dont hurt..they are just annoying. but the results are great!! GOOD LUCK!!

no relax!!! i admit though that you might have a problem at eating....but it will be ok...try soft food for tomorrow night like rice or soup..I remember myself...yeah i was in pain for about a week..but you know what? dont be that stressed...its for the best...! you will see by yourself that its nothing! i just mentioned my situation cuzz i didnt wanna lie!

nah. It doesnt hurt at all, you just cant pronouce some things for a couple of days ^^
