I havent been a Christian that long or a pentacostal that long either. But still I do miss how things used to be. WE have had some improvements along the way with things that needed changing. BUt, oh yes, the gospel gets watered down so much to be easily acceptible, seeker friendly, and so much is left out. I miss them calling each other brother and sister as they are our family. I miss many things. WE just can pray it will come back and it will, as ppl in these last days will either become more holy like Jesus or they will run futher into sin. For those that are last day Christians that believe in holiness, we will get back to how it used to be, even if its fewer in numbers.
OH YES> Dontcha just love it???? If we do things as Jesus did them all, we woudl never mess up. amen

I'm Roman Catholic. The services are pretty much the same as they've ever been. I'd have to get in a time machine and go back to the pre-Vatican II days (I wasn't yet born then) to see something really different. However, my church is one of the few in my area that still uses a lot of classical music. When visiting other churches, I hear a lot of music that sounds as if it has pop or folk influences, and I strongly prefer the classical and traditional music. But even at that, the Mass itself is pretty much the same as it has been since I was a kid.

I've been a Christian for almost 25 years. I attended a Pentecostal church for the first couple of years. It was mostly fluff, no substance, with the pastor mostly just going the fire-and-brimstone or feel-good message route. I eventually started attending a church that actually taught the Bible.

I am not sure what "Pentecostal" type church you have been attending, but the one I have attended now for 25 years is as "wild" as it as ever been. If anything, it gets more radical every year.

I don't miss the old services. the ones I attended as a young adult were the type where you were afraid to sneeze in church. I like a little activity.

I've been a Christian for over 40 years and I find the mercies of God are new every morning.

I'd rather go to church then to Disneyland.

And if your church isn't as exciting as Disneyland, there is something wrong with your church, since it should be.

WOW!! FINALLY a good question!!! Yes, they have toned down EVERYWHERE!! What I mean by everywhere is: Catholic, Methodist, Baptist AND Pentecostal. They're afraid to 'hurt someones feelings' or 'lose money because they get offended and leave' - that's called CONVICTION-DUH!!! Let them go. Sad for them! If they start preaching the truth - peoples toes get stepped on then like road rage - they get stupid!! God help us!!

Well I'm not a Pentacostal, I'm a Catholic, and I miss the old Latin mass. Probably not what you were asking about, but I say things have probably changed for people of ALL faith traditions.

Back in the 1600s the church services lasted all day. Do you miss that we are still not like them then?

Having grownn in my faith and trust in God, in 50 years practicing a religion seems childish. Not that childishness is wrong, but why pretend to be stupid like others when God knows our hearts?
