If a book looks like a monotheistic anthology written by Jews, why not call it that? What's with the code name...is it just to trick people into thinking it's more than what it is?

1. The Jews don't call it "The Bible"
2. In any case "The Bible" *IS* descriptive... it means the book
3. Bigotry is unbecoming and unnecessary.
4. FYI The first 5 books of the Hebrew Scriptures is called The "Torah" which means the Law... also descriptive..

We could also have the appended by christians, et al.

What's wrong with "bible" ? It's a heck of a lot shorter. No book has the entire contents in the title.

Your point is a good one. But the origin of the word makes it even better. "Bible" is a derivative of the Latin term for "book". That's all it is. The Book.

no becaue the bible is the new testement not the old. the old was very jewish based, but like i beleive that all the christians that claim to have a differnt religion they are basically reform jews.
