Which Bible? Even if you believe that the original writing came from prophets to whom God delivered truth, you still have to figure out which of the many conflicting collections/translations is closest to the truth originally delivered.

Its a good thing that we are blessed with the Spirit to direct our study and to open the scriptures to our understanding.

p.s. Since there was no question, I do not know whether this qualifies as an answer

Hi, John. Firstly, let me say that I've read your entry several times now, but I can't seem to find the question... Therefore, might I make up an answer and say try writing a blog?

Secondly, there are definite problems with your statement. Firstly, get any Catholic and any mainstream Protestant together and get them talking about how many books are there... You're going to come up with different numbers... And in case you're curious, the Catholics didn't add... the Protestants subtracted.

Thirdly, atheists are not trying to stop the Bible... They're trying to stop getting proverbial concussions by being hit on the head with the book! As a Christian, even I don't like being accosted on the street by some holier-than-thou crazy nut-job pastor.

Fourthly, if you ever DO write that blog, send me the link. I'd be interested to see what some of your other thoughts are.

The interpreter of the Bible is not always God. We have many different interpretations and many different Christian faiths. Many books were written but never put into the Bible because they were deemed Apocrypha or hidden books. These were books that admittedly had truth in them but also questionable writings. It was man's decision to leave them out saying they were not all truth. In the Qumran Caves by the Dead Sea were scriptures (Dead Sea Scrolls) hidden in sealed jars discovered in 1947. They had been copied by a religious sect known as the Essenes that were slaughtered in 68 AD. These scriptures testify to the authenticity of many of the apocryphal books that were never put into the Bible (book of books) as well as to the Old Testament books and fragments of the New Testament. They were copied between 250 BC and 68 AD. My assumption is that although we have the truth of the Bible we do not have all of the truth because too much has been left out. Who would dare to put these truths in the Bible now? Not me!

I am a baptized Christian and still do not believe the truth is always in the Bible. I believe there is one truth, and it is written in many books and followed by many religions who call their God many names.

As discussed by many above, the Bible was written by man and has been translated and edited so many times that it does not even begin to resemble its original form. Books that were deleted by King James; edits done by Constantine; and other "whispering down the lane" changes that have been made prevent it from always being the truth.

We should not limit ourselves by one book, even if the book is the Bible. We should maintain our objectivity. We should continue to explore and expand our minds, our consciousness, and ask our God for guidance both within AND WITHOUT the Bible.

John -- BE LIMITLESS. It will serve you well.

Man is not perfect, God is. God did not write the Bible but instead man did. Therefore it is subject to human error. Other facts that support my statement is when the Bible was transulated from Latin to old English to modern English, there were lots of errors made during the transulations, such as misinterperations of what the origional word meant, so who knows what was REALLY in the Bible from day 1. Also, the Bible was written by over 40 men during a period of 10,000 years. You tell me.

Well let us see.... despite you and good morning dave twisting about every statement you made from what the Bible truly says, I look and it still reads the same as last time I looked.

It seems your answer should be yes. Oh yes you lie about what it says and get it all mixed up according to your prejudice. To all honest hearted people the words remain the same print. It does show up your shortcomings though.

Alright. That's a fair view.

When I meet a Christians whose beliefs are based on THE BIBLE, I'll keep it in mind.

However, all the Christians I've met seem to just go along with one political agenda or another and their "truth" has nothing to do with the Bible.

(Opposing the secular government's granting rights to others, for example, is not in the Bible.)

Yes it will ..... :)

Because .......
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. Sharper than any two-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness

How did Noah gather 2 Polar Bears for the Arc when he didn't know that they existed? This story is a proven lie and there's more where that came from.

Sorry, the bible has too many contradictions and plain errors to be always true.

The biggest contradiction is the two creation stories. Go and look it up. There are two stories and they contradict each other.
