If our beliefs were based on our feelings we would never know what to believe in because our feelings always change. Facts do get in the way because it is the solid truth and it has evidence to prove itself. Our feelings only prove how we feel for a certain time. They change constantly, and that would cause your beliefs to change constantly. How would you know what you believe if they are always changing? What is the point of believing in something that will not be the same in just a matter of time? We would be believing in everything and nothing all the time because it would constantly be changing and I would think after a matter of time we would forget what the truth is. If my beliefs were based on my feelings and not facts then I would be really confused right now!!

Do you think you would "feel" that being catholic is the only one true way,if it were never introduced to you, you are basing your beliefs on the bible. Do you think everything in it is a fact? Is that important to you? I do think its important to believe in our feelings, but we need a balance between that and intellect, and we cant't really have that without facts. If you tell someone to believe with there feelings, and they are different from yours,, will you tell them they are wrong becasue yours is the only one true way? should we believe in our feelings or just yours? I'm not intending to sound offensive but I'm assuming your beliefs are based on what you think are facts, since yiu are catholic,,, im not saying anything is wrong with that, just making it clear

Of course, and that is the historical stand of Christianity. Yes, we have faith, but we also base our faith on the historicity of the Bible and the historical fact of Christ and His resurrection. Beliefs based on feelings or emotions often come up empty when the reality of life hits you, that is why the believer is able to stand through the toughest of times.

I like the sarcasm. Beliefs are based on feeling, and can be a dangerous thing.

No they shouldn't be based on feelings!
Facts are true.
Feelings change.
If you felt one way one day and a different way the next day...are you really ever believing anything? I don't think so...
