What kind of twisted logic is this? That's the classic profile of an abusive father.

Some of you: If God is all-powerful, he didn't "need" a sacrifice at all.

Good one donkey. Most adherents will tell you there was a purpose to the loss of Jesus' life. I have a question for them: Why did God allow the devil to murder Job's first batch of children when he was testing Job? Were his children's lives of such little consequence that they deserved to die simply to test their father's faith?

I asked my mom (who is a JW) this question, and her reply was: "well he got 10 more..."

That's just disgusting.

It is to redeem us from our wrong. The price to pay for the wrong we did, be it s lie, or someting small, there is a price to pay. That is eternal seperation from God, some say it is to be punished in hell forever. It is the same. In old days, people use animal as sacrifices, it is the same concept, as it was the idea given by God. All the sin we had in that year, was on that innocent animal, and when it was sacrificed, God look away from our sin. It is the act of repentence, and the faith to believe. Not just mere action only. In the issue of Jesus, the act of sacrificed was done once and for all, to all man kind. And the pouring of the holy spirit to work among the people in this world. Previously the Holy Spirit only fall upon certain people at certain time. Now is for all who believe, and until we are united with God. That is the reason why God send his son for us. If there is no shedding of blood, there is no redemption of sins. Hope you got it. You may email me if need be.,

Before the death of Yeshua, the priests were required to make blood sacrifice for the atonement of the people. We are all born with an original sin and that sin cannot be washed clean except through sacrificial blood. The blood constitutes a pact of faith between man and God. God loved us so much that he showed His love by making the ultimate blood sacrifice, sacrificing a part of his Deity so that the atonement would last forever and that the blood sacrifice could end. With that sacrifice, he washed clean all the original sin that kept us and him apart, because God cannot be in the presence of the unclean...but He loved us so much that He desired to make us clean so that we could be with him. Otherwise, we would not be saved.

Jesus offered HIMSELF as a sacrifice for sin, He could have had 1,000s of angels at his disposal, however He chose to die for us- no God is not an abusive Father, He is God and we aren't and there is no salvation without the shedding of blood. God so loved the WORLD- He loved His Son , too that is why it is so amazing to me that He would sacrifice His Son for me, and the rest of us.

Jesus is God. He himself died for us. He came in human form to fulfill the requirement of his law. It would have been simpler to wipe all of us out because of our disobedience. This is where God's love comes in. He put a plan in place long ago to give those of us who love him that opportunity. The brutality comes by the hand of men. Ironically, men who were not able to see what they were looking for all along. He knew beforehand what his fate was. It was prophetically foretold. Wouldn't it have been nice if we all were perfect. But we aren't. You know the old saying - Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. This gift is the best you'll ever be offered.

Jesus willingly died. It was His choice. God didn't force Him. He did it willingly. And He did it so that we could be with the Father forever. God knew that no sacrifice would ever be sufficient for all sins except His own sinless Son. He didn't even withhold that from us. And His Son, loved us so much that He willingly died a tortorous death for us. God knew it was the only way. And Jesus did it willingly.

The "son" is God himself. (the concept of the Trinity), and...it's not like Jesus was forced to die in any case. Jesus, being God, could simply have chosen not to accept death on the cross for all of mankind. yeah...he had the power to do that. indeed this "logic" may seem "twisted" and difficult to understand, because the concept of God's love itself defies logic.

He does seem a bit sinister huh? Remember the tsunami on Christmas a few years ago that killed like 100,000 people? Now that's a love'n god. Oh, and the joke he played on the unsuspecting alter boys - like being molested. What a prankster.

Well, I like the way you put the question, but a great fallacy you made is that you differentiated between God the father and his son.
If you see that both are one, it would make much more sense.
So let's put it this way, you did a crime and you were sentenced to death, but a person came saying I'll take your place because I love you.
Does this make more sense?

There is no many things so noble than give one's life so that all the others can live forever.

You need to remember that Jesus IS God. He used a human form here and He was the perfect teacher. No one took His life, He gave it to us. He did not NEED to do it. He promised to do it and He did.
