Because people create wars not religion and as I have pointed out previously it is much more precise than that - men create wars. And by the way, everyone does not follow religion. I am not religious at all but am a total pacifist and totally oppose war.

What do you mean by "believes in war"? I believe it happens. It is a real physical thing. No one necessarily advocates it, though. However, there is in the history of Christianity a "just war theory" which lays out the groundwork for when it is necessary and just to engage in war. War simply happens because human beings are bent on asserting themselves. Some wars are started because of greed and conquest while others are started for silly reasons (WWI).
Perhaps, deep within the human nature there lies a natural bent towards evil?

Wars happen because humans are easily misled into believing that happiness consists in subjugating others and controlling wealth. Eventually someone with this kind of mindset gets political power and starts oppressing his own people and/or the neighbouring countries, and next thing you know there is a full blown civil or international war. It all boils down to greed and the thirst for power. All major religions teach against these things, so to blame religion for wars is ludicrous. It is exactly the least religious of people who foster warfare. They may declare that there are fighting for God, but they are just hiding under religion to try to make their actions look justified.

Nava-yauvana: Also they say that religions are the causes of war. In Lebanon now the Christians are killing the Muslims and the Muslims are killing the Christians in the name of...
Prabhupada: And the Communists are killing capitalists and capitalists are killing Communists. What is that? Is that religion? Then? How you can stop war? Because you are animal, you fight, you can give some name, either on religious ground or this philosophical ground. But because you are animal you will fight. You can give a different name. That is different thing. But because you are dogs, you'll fight. The real religion is why they will fight? Religion means to accept God. So if you are Muslim, I am Hindu, if I accept God, if You accept God, then where is fight? If we accept that God is the proprietor, God is the father, then where is the question of fight? Because we are not religious, therefore fight. Otherwise, if you accept God is the supreme father, if I accept God is the supreme, why fight? We have to go down?
Nava-yauvana: Everything you say, Prabhupada, makes sense. Everything you say makes sense.
SB 1.10.2 P Departure of Lord Krsna for Dvaraka
This world is compared to a forest fire caused by the cohesion of bamboo bushes. Such a forest fire takes place automatically, for bamboo cohesion occurs without external cause. Similarly, in the material world the wrath of those who want to lord it over material nature interacts, and the fire of war takes place, exhausting the unwanted population. Such fires or wars take place, and the Lord has nothing to do with them. But because He wants to maintain the creation, He desires the mass of people to follow the right path of self-realization, which enables the living beings to enter into the kingdom of God. The Lord wants the suffering human beings to come back home, back to Him, and cease to suffer the threefold material pangs. The whole plan of creation is made in that way, and one who does not come to his senses suffers in the material world by pangs inflicted by the illusory energy of the Lord. The Lord therefore wants His bona fide representative to rule the world. Lord Sri Krsna descended to establish this sort of regime and to kill the unwanted persons who have nothing to do with His plan. The Battle of Kuruksetra was fought according to the plan of the Lord so that undesirable persons could get out of the world and a peaceful kingdom under His devotee could be established. The Lord was therefore fully satisfied when King Yudhisthira was on the throne and the seedling of the dynasty of Kuru, in the person of Maharaja Pariksit, was saved.

I feel wars are down to just two things, a lack in understanding of each other, and the inability to reach a compromise during conflict.
War is a creation from God, acted out by people who should know better.
Just an opinion, but hope it helps.

People are at war at every human level - from competing at school for grades, to sports, to competing for jobs, to differences in beliefs and religions, to ethnic differences, to nation against nation. Humans are even at war with the natural environment, and if visitors from another planet came, humans would probably make war with them as well. Every instance that people view themselves as somehow different or separate is opportunity for war.
competition = war - on every level.
The only way to stop war is to stop seeing ourselves as separate. All on this planet are of one essence. When we start looking for the ways we are alike to the others - and love that, rather than looking for the ways we are different - and fear that, then the world will know peace.

Wars are created by humans who are greedy and want power... the religious are the pawns of the greedy and corrupt.
From the oil of the middle east, to the rubber platations of viet nam... these wars are fought over resources and money. Religion just gives it a false air of rightousness...

Sorry, all religions were formed to eliminate the followers of a rival religion and there never will be peace until all religion and its adherents who spread such poisonous rubbish are eliminated themselves unfortunately.

Islam believes in war, the Jihad. Catholics believe in war, Crusading. Other Christians believe in missionaries who spread a different belief than what exists, thats war. Tribes only exist when enemies exist so your logic fails. Not everyone follows a religion and in the free world its not a requirement for existence.
