I hear these things from atheists a lot. I don't understand why. Could be that mabe we studied it out in our own minds and came to the conclusion that threre is a God? Could it be that it is the Athiests who are "brainwashed" or "decieved"?

Some people of faith are stupid, blind followers.

So are some atheists.

Atheist here. (not brainwashed or decieved BTW)
I wouldn't say that. Not all Atheists are rude.
Faith is often called blind faith because you can't see it.
Does that make you stupid, no, I don't think so anyway.
Having faith helps a lot of people. It doesn't do anything for me, personally, but for those it helps it's great. It's a big lonely cruel world and anything that helps you feel better at the end of the day can't be a bad thing.

I have been wondering this also. They say to be an atheist means you are more open minded and you question things. Can't you be a Christian and do likewise? Ahh yes!! Cos I do all the time.
Also wonder what the atheist handbook is? Is that not also guidelines like we as Christians may follow?
My Church gives me guidelines to follow to help me. Its hard enough living in this World, I can admit I need help. There are only 2 commandments (Love the Lord God with all your heart and love thy neighbour). If you follow these, then life is so simple. We have free agency, its good to use this. It is a gift. Of course, if we make the right choices we will blessed.
So with following the guidelines, I am cheating! :D

No, being a person of faith means you have given away your mind's ability to reason logically and exercise critical thinking.

How can you study in your own mind? To study means to take in an outside source of information and process that information and then make a logical deduction.

How can you come to the 'conclusion' that there is a god? You have FAITH that there is a god, but you have no conclusion. A conclusion is arrived at via a logical argument...math, scientific experiments, etc.

whatever you believe, you could either be brainwashed and blind, or you could have thought about it carefully.

they could be, and it's going to be one of those arguments that goes on forever. whatever way you believe, people should respect that - unless someone really does follow like a sheep.

the only thing i would say is, perhaps its actually easier to follow the atheist masses, where not believinnig is the "cool" thing (at least it is in the UK). that would be more blind following than Christianity.

so...yeh...good point. i agree. brainwashing can occur whatever the faith - at the end of the day, if you have conviction for your own well thought out beliefs, its probably right to go with them, no matter what people say.

Neither it just means you are a person of faith. There are many good atheists just like there are Christians. Here on this site you are just seeing a small portion who are trying to get their point across at any cost. Deceived and brainwashed are very strong words they just think differently than theists. It is always wrong to judge, just be happy you are faithful and know in heart and mind that what you feel is right. God Bless.

When a person has faith in Christ for example we have convinced ourselves by what we are taught that this is our understanding and excepted belief. We then wish to share it with others. We tend to think that ouur way is the correct way. Sometimes our spiritual pride makes us less considerate of others. We seek answers that will support our belief and feel a need to offer the same truth to others. This is the same with those who don't believe. They feel a need to seek information to support their non- belief. They are convinced that belief in a God who we cannot see with our eyes is not there. They do not realize that all they see is of God. They either just don't care or they find ways to convince others they are wrong about the existance of God and will believe as they do. Some think they are so right that they go out of their way to disrupt or corrupt the existing religions through any means they can. When people become sarcastic and attack those who believe, it is my opinion that there is an influence from the dark side. A true believer of Nothing, would not bother trying to convince you. A person who has to through verble stones at Christianity or any other religion has not found security within themselves with their faith. They are just as closed minded as those Christians that think they have all the answers tied up in one book. In man's judgement many things are a sin, including homosexuality. I will let that one to God to Judge. I have no right to. I do know that Love outweighs out judgements. Judge not less you be judged. We judge because we are taught to judge. I would sooner see a loving couple of men together than a hateful male /female couple together. As it says in the bible. In heaven, we are all brothers and sisters. Sex is not an issue there. Just suppose procreation had nothing to do with life and homosexuality was excepted as normal. We would not even have a question of it. I do not encourage homosexuality but I have a freind who is. I also know a couple ministers who are. I Love them as I Love any other human being. What they do with their life is not my affair as long as they don't push it on me or harm others with it. I let God sort all that stuff out! Rev. TomCat

Listen. Many of these people believe in demons and angels, heaven and hell, etc... But when you point out something like, hey doesn't it seem a little unlikely that Noah could get all those animals on a boat and keep them alive, they fly off the deep end.

Basically, we attack fundamentalists the most because they are the most troublesome since no amount of logic or physical evidence will convince them of reality. They live in a world where God and Satan are dueling it out for the souls of earth and that Jesus is gonna be here soon. This is frightening to people like me.

We live in a day and age where people feel that they need tangible evidence to believe anything. Often times people misinterpret the definition of faith, believe, and beliefs, when they all work in conjunction. If you don't believe then you will not have an understanding of what is faith. Yet in still people say that they have another set of beliefs when it comes to God. When in fact when you say you don't believe you are in fact acknowledging the existence in claiming his non existence. For when you believe in something you are saying you have examined it and found evidence. In order to find evidence you have to bear witness to something , submit proof and recognize that it is in fact there. So to answer your question Athiest are believers they just aren't ready to admit it and there is nothing stupid about believing, having faith and a set of beliefs about God.

Many atheists look to disprove something they do not believe in.

Many 'Children of God' try to prove the existence of god to athiests.

It is a waste of time for both parties involved.

Blind faith is an interesting word. Stemming from the concept of not being able to 'see' one's God. I think the concept of faith often is tied to putting trust in ones beliefs, not a need to have them proven to them.

Nobody is stupid for searching for something more, for meaning and love, validation and hope, and of all things faith.

With love,

The non christian or atheist guy.
