I highly doubt you are going to jail. It just sounds like Turbo Tax is trying to get info on you for their mailing list. Unless you receive an official document from the IRS, I would not worry a bit. Like the first person said, it could be a phishing scam, so disregard it completely.

Did you check to see if this information is legitimate? Check the contact information from the ORIGINAL Turbo Tax website (not the letter you got in the mail) and ask if they have a policy of sending notices like this. Most likely it is a "phishing" letter from an identity thief trying to get access to your information, and this is especially suspicious since the letter didn't even say what they wanted.
No, you will not go to jail...if there is a legitimate mistake, they will find a legitimate way to contact you to tell you what you need. In the meantime, check with corporate headquarters and report possible fraud, because if this is a scam, as it likely is, you will be helping to prevent others from being victimized by the same letter.

When did you file your return? If it has been some time, I would think Turbo tax would have contacted you long ago. Generally taxes processed through Turbo tax would have diagnostics at the time of preparing your return--not after. I don't think you need to worry about going to jail--Turbo tax is not the IRS. If you receive notice from the IRS (and they only send out letters via U.S. mail), that's when you would need to provide additional info on your taxes. IMO, it's either a scam or Turbo tax wants more personal info for marketing purposes.

First make sure the letter was actually from Turbo Tax, since it came via mail it probably was. More than likely in the process some small item that is required was omitted from your return. I would call them via phone and review the situation with them. This is a class company who puts out a good product so you don't have to worry about a scam if you contact them direct.

No you did fine filing your taxes. Some of the Tax Pro's you use will ask you for additional information, so that they can try and Scam your name and information to different companies. Just give them the basic info. that was needed and you will be fine.

No, you're not going to jail over this. And this "letter" sounds very suspicious - TurboTax shouldn't have required additional personal info from you.
