You know, the days that you dont go into work/school because you're tired/stressed out. Do you think they are acceptable, or just an excuse for people to be lazy? How often should you take one, if at all?

I think everyone should take mental health days as needed. The days are an opportunity to improve one-self, feel better, and take care of yourself.

You can't perform at your best if you don't feel your best. Mental health days are a nessacity to feeling better.

Well, one should only take them when he or she truly needs to take one; I don't theink there's any scheduled time they should be used,

I don't know of any employer that actually classifies them as "mental health" days, where "sick day" or "personal day" work just as well and avoid certain legal entanglements.

As for the legitimacy, yeah I'd say that number of people are well enough to work in general but their condition can be bad enough to make it so they can't work. Some consider these conditions a disease like any other, some a disability. I myself have Bipolar Disorder and I can say that there are times where I should not have gone in due to my mental state for my own health and others (not to mention being non-productive) but did anyway because I was too proud and stubborn to miss work.

As with anything, there are people that are going to abuse it, and there are going to be people that will convince themselves that they are will when truly they aren't...

Mental Health Days are both wise and necessary, the same goes with a flexible work schedule, so you can have blocks of time free of stress. Stresses are behind many of our physical and mental problems.

Nothing Lazy about it.

Well, don't use it as an excuse, but if you're really tired and stressed you ought to seek help or maybe some kind of medication. I guess if someone needs a day off because their head isn't "functioning" properly, then it's okay.

We all need a break for the stress and pressure of work. Not only are they great for us adults but I like to once a year delcare mental health day for my kids too. We will have a family filled fun day.

Life is short, enjoy what you can when you can.

Before I was on medication I was to tired or stressed to do anything.I think sometimes it's a very valid reason, but you should seek help if it is.If it's just an excuse then don't do it ever.

i think that as long as your job/grades are not in jeopardy, and you are within attendance guidelines then they can be very beneficial. i personally think life is short, and it's ok to be a slacker sometimes as long as you are not making life harder by missing that time. i also thinks it makes a difference of how it affects others, when i had a job that it would affect my co-workers if i called off i did not do it.

i thin kthey are compltetly acceptable. everyone needs a brake. the need time to themselves so they don't snap. if people are taking them all the time, they are either lazy or going throug hsome rough times. you should only take one when you truly need it.
