Bobby: yeah I was surprised by that. I was hoping he would be Nixon going to China as only a diehard conservative could do it, but I guess not

Just as quickly as they could excommunicate each other or issue a fatwa against each other.

Immediately. It happened in the Catholic Church right after Vatican II (which moved the Church in a more modern and accessible direction), and I believe it is in the process of happening in the Anglican/Episcopal church since the American church confirmed an openly gay bishop. If true ecumenicalism were to occur, I imagine you'd see scorch marks left behind by the zealots running away from it.

Benedict XVI sent the Ecumenical Movement
back into the Dark Ages last week.

Ecumenism will never occur. It would be easier for the US of A to become a prince-bishopry of the County of Patagonia.
Assuming it would occur however, they would have split before the Pope (who would have to be the boss of course) could say: "Sic est"

May the spirit be with you.

I would not be part of some One World Church which would deny the Holyness of God and the blood of Jesus Christ, so I wouldn't have to " schism away", because I would not be in it. If that meant dying, then so be it." Absent from the body, present with the Lord."

Yeah, no one's ever going to get people to all agree on the same thing. Oh, well.

About as soon as it started...

People just aren't gonna see eye to eye on ANYthing, let know their beliefs on the supernatural.
