While other methods of science like evolution seem far fetched to these guys, how exactly do they explain the bristlecone pine trees that have been dated to 5,000 years old?

They claim the Earth was flooded entirely for over 8 months around 4000 years ago, while the tree is living now at 4,800 years old.

Can you explain it, or you deny its existence like everything else?

But research by Dr. Walter E. Lammerts, who has a doctorate in genetics and is a plant scientist, has disclosed that the bristlecone pine routinely stops growth during the dry summer and when both spring and fall are rainy (which is common). It produces two rings a year. Thus, the giant redwoods (Sequoia gigantea) are with certainty the oldest living thing, not the bristlecone pine.

Various treatments were given to 8-month-old bristle-cone pine seedlings; and it was found that supplementing the winter day length with a 250-watt heat lamp in order to give a total of 16 hours of illumination proved most effective. The lamp was placed about three feet above the seedlings, and the temperature in the growth chamber was kept at about 70'F. Those which received a short (circa 21 days) drought stress period in August of the third growing season showed up having one more growth ring than the control seedlings, that is four growth rings instead of three. Also seedlings which received a two week drought stress period in August of the fourth growing season showed a similar extra growth ring. The bearing of this on the estimates of the age of the bristle-cone pine forest is discussed. Under the San Francisco type of both spring and fall rainfall with a relatively dry period in the summer the young forests on the White Mountains would have grown an extra ring per year quite often.

I have never in my years as a Christian heard any talk about the flood happening 4,000 years ago for 8 months. Would you care to give us the source of this claim. And as far as things being far fetched, how about a one-celled amoeba deciding to crawl out of the primordial ooze and deciding to evolve into all the living things on the earth today ? I don't have enough faith to believe that fairy tale, but, it's easy to believe it all was created by God.

sure can !!! first thing is your 4800 year date, is an approximate date,,,,scientific dating is always "approximate " anyone with a thimble full of sense knows that...scientist structure their theories to fit their agendas,,,,the word of God is unchanged,,,prophecy was written over 2000 years ago, and is being fullfilled everyday, in the order it was written, or have you bothered to study that for yourself ? now can you explain why bible prophecy is coming true ? or do you deny that like everything else ? can you explain why the world hates Israel, when they have done nothing but try to exist ? the bible says why, and the bible said it 2000 years ago,,,can you explain that ? one more thought here,,,if your right, ive got nothing to lose,,,,if im right , you have everything to lose,,,,,eternity is a long, long time,, is it worth the risk of dening God almighty ? seems to me it should be worth alot of study on the matter for yourself, and not my word or some scientist.....there wont be any passing the buck on judgment day,,,we will each stand alone and answer for ourself..there is a heaven and a hell,,,we choose

This is actually a linguistic question. The 6000 year figure comes from an incomplete understanding of the Hebrew word Yalad (begot). Many don't understand that it does not have to refer to direct father-son relationships. The Bible does not give an age of the Earth; it is not possible to find a "biblical" age for the Earth, or even an approximation.

People who believe in six 24 hours days of creation are simply not thinking straight. The best scenerio that fits both the biblical account and known science is the seven epochs theory.

who says the whole earth was flooded?

God's people were only in certain areas so the other people didn't know God so it wouldve been unfair to punish them and flood them too.

for me, maybe only the Jews, God's chosen ones, who had strayed away, were flooded.

if we as christians, or other religions, can explain fossils we can explain trees.

whatever evidence comes up, the majority wont change their views, just fit their views around it

Never trust creationists like mister Einstein when it comes to science. Boy those were some scary sites. Creationists have no answers just myth.

the tree held its breath and when the flood was over it looked into the sky and said: "ha! there you go!"
