Theists do not deny logic. There will always be a place for logic in the center of faith. There will always be a place for faith in the center of ones logic.

Most people in our world believe in God.

In God we trust.

One nation under God.

You know, I believe those that do not believe in God will not accept anything a christian says to sway them to believe. It usually is finally accepted when one hits bottom and they realize crying out to fellowman sometimes is not enough. My brother being a minister has said that many a non-believer has called at time of a crisis in their lives and asked for prayers. Another minister from my childhood/teen years told me the saddest deaths he had to witness were the ones of non-believers. The believers all seem to be at peace; the non-believers acted as though they were being tormented in their minds until death overtook them. Let it suffice to say we will be here if they need us. God Bless!

"Theists do not deny logic" --Of course they don't, but many times, the dogma religion teaches forces one to discard logic. That isn't tossing away logic althogether, but is still nevertheless discarding logic.

You are treating faith and logic as prinicipally equal in terms of their truthfulness. Logic is based on facts that we can observe--which makes it the sensible approach. Faith, on the other hand, is based on pure assumption for which there is no evidence for. Why must a person have faith when it is illogical to believe in something with no evidence?

Lastly, the problem I have is not that people say there is a God--it is when people say I will suffer in Hell forever because I don't believe in God.

The only logic in religion is pragmatic behavior modification---a structure for conduct that is workable. If your innate sense of right and wrong is bereft of discernment, then you probably can use some moral fascism in the form of fire-and-brimstone threats of punishment. As for a hereafter, a spirit world, miracles, and a benevolent diety--these can not be proven. But if you want to believe, then go ahead--I applaud your efforts, and your faith. Suggest you read "The Varieties of Religious Experience," by William James.

Faith is illogical.

At one time, most people in our world believed that the sun revolved arounf the earth. Didn't make it any more true, did it?

In God we trust. & One nation under God were added in the 1950's to scare communists. The original pledge, which was written by a Christian minister, did not mention god once. This is a nation built on freedom, not theocracy and intellectual slavery.

I don't struggle with faith. Faith (in God) to me, is the abandonment of logic. It is being willing to say that you are going to believe in something that (1) Has no evidence of existence at all and (2) Doesn't make sense to you. And you are going to believe in that thing...just because.

Although I am atheist I do know what it means to have faith in something. I have faith in relationships in my life, for example. I simply do not have faith in the same things that you do. There is a big difference between not having faith at all, and lacking faith in a certain belief system.

Atheists do not struggle with faith. To struggle with faith one would have to have a belief in a faith.

Also there are not many people that claim to have faith that believe in both logic (science) and the bible. They both contradict each other.

You tell me I deny logic? Where did I say so?

Most people in our world believe in god? And what about in their world? What does that prove? If nobody believed in god, he would not exist?

How can an ignorant one comprehend somebody while they do no longer supply up their misconceptions approximately people? i've got not got faith in any deities. in spite of the shown fact that, that does no longer mean that i'm without good judgment. yet to you, because of the fact I lack faith, I lack a soul. appropriate? i've got faith in technology. technology is ruled via excellent judgment. each little thing could be defined to a factor. Will technology finally teach what created the universe? in all probability. the factor is, that merely because of the fact it won't be able to be defined via technology on the 2d, does no longer mean that technology won't be able to clarify it interior the destiny. it particularly is like announcing the earth is merely 10,000 years previous because of the fact the bible says so. technology has shown that the earth is a lot older. to assert that we are the spawn of Adam and Eve is to assert that we are the made from millenia of incest, yet people of religion have faith that incest is erroneous. we would be horribly deformed if that have been real. with the objective to assert that an Atheist can think of without good judgment is without good judgment in its very own suited. to those with faith, we could think of without good judgment. it particularly is an analogous with us. We see you as illogical to have faith that some being created us inspite of the actuality that we got here to be via millennia of evolution.

I don't know where to start with this.

Even if you assume it's true that most people in our world believe in God, that still doesn't prove his existence.

I'm a Christian, and a fan of both logic and faith. But I fully acknowledge that some people seek their knowledge through empirical methods and I'm no one to tell them they're wrong.

I do not. One nation under god was added in the 50's at the height of McCarthyism and was not in the original pledge. Did you know early in the 20th century when the pledge was sent out over the loudspeakers in school the salute was more of the now famous 'Nazi salute'? An 80 year old guy told me, and his friends all backed him up. Should we add the salute back into the pledge as well?
