Migraines are very bad headaches, usually lasting a couple of hours to days on end.

The pain of a migraine headache is often described as an intense pulsing or throbbing pain in one area of the head. It is often accompanied by extreme sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, and vomiting. http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/migraine/migraine.htm

If you got this pain only once it may have been just a 'super bad headache' ... it's a migraine ONLY if the pain is concentrated all on one side of the head (draw a like down the middle from your nose to your neck and imagine there is a 'wall' between the two sides) ... and it is usually 'most painful' at one particular spot (usually the same spot every time) with the pain getting 'less' the farther it goes out from that point. You will also feel 'sensitivity to light' (can't stand even normal daylight in a room), nausea (sometimes vomiting), sensitivity to sound (can't stand any noises, even small ones) ...
When you have 'migraines' regularly, it's called having migraines regularly. IF you have migraine, they can last for anywhere from 4 hours to a week ... and you would not be able to 'work' or do anything but 'lie in bed in pain' if it was a migraine. There are now good 'prescription medications you can get to take at the 'first sign' of a migraine ... usually you get 'curving lines of 'neon and black' in your 'view' that can 'make seeing difficult' ...
Even if your 'bad headaches' on one day were NOT migraine, you should see a doctor and tell him your 'symptoms' ... headache can be 'stress related' or can be a 'symptom' of a much worse 'health problem' ... and let HIM do the 'diagnosis' on what is wrong with you, so that you can work together to find the 'proper treatment' ...

I used get migranes all of the time. Other than medicines (ibuprofen is bad, but advil works alright) I would say to go to sleep. Do you drink diet soda? I used to constantly drink it and constantly get migranes. I stopped drinking it and began to drink water instead. Now I only get migranes when I'm stressed out. Drink water when you get a migrane, and eat something so you don't get the upset stomach that comes with it. Good Luck with you migranes. I know they suck.

Migraines start by you loosing your peripheral vision. That's the vision that is on the outer vision, like you are looking straight ahead but can see the door to your right as far as you can see without turning your head.

I get them and my vision goes, my eyes are sensitive to light and sound, the left side of my lips go numb. The pain is so bad that I want to take out my right eye as that's where the pain is, behind the eye.

They usually last a day and it's hard to function. With most women it has to do with getting your monthly period. Usually they happen a few days or the day before you start it.

Tell your mom right away. No danger but you can take some things to make it subside.

Migraines can come and go. You can have one once and never again, or they can be recurring. I usually wake up with one, and if I don't take my prescription, I will have it until I go to sleep. A migraine is differentiated from a regular headache because it is usually in one spot on your head, rather than your whole head hurting. If you tend to have more of them, see a doctor, and they can prescribed medicine which will knock a migraine headache out in 30 minutes!

A migraine can last anywhere from one to three days depending on the person. Most people that get them don't just get them once, they can get them even twice in a week.
I use to get them about three time a month. Now that i am older I only get them maybe once every three to four months. When i get them all I want to do is be in a dark room with little to no noise.

Migraines can last for hours or for days at a time. There is no term for regular migraines. You probably are referring to another kind of headache called cluster headaches. Those are NOT the same as migraines.
