I saw a clip on youtube of a cat and dog mating. Is it possible for the cat to become pregnant?

A cat can become pregnant with another cat, but not with a dog. The genetic make up from both of these animals are completely different. It would be like trying to breed a horse with a goat.

We were just discussing something like this in my Env. Bio. class. If two organisms that differ like a horse/jackass, whale/dolphin, horse/zebra then they could have babies but the offspring would be sterile. Now, a cat and a dog, IF (and this is a very big if) if there was a fetus produced as a result of mating.....highly unlikely it would survive. But my guess is a very big No.

Never. Not without some sort of genetic manipulation by some dumb scientist. Dontcha get it. Do you believe a giraffe and an ostrich can reproduce?

It's genetically impossible. The dog was probably humping the cat, but dogs will hump anything. They can't get your leg pregnant and have dog-human babies.

I have seen offsprings of a lion and a tiger but I guess they belong to the same species.
