I think the cat has herpes, she shows the signs of it and the baby kitten is crying we give it a bottle but how can i isolate the mother cat from the baby 2 week old kitten? will the kitten get herpes, does he have it already? What can I do> the mother cat is sneezing, eye oozing, nose oozing, bloody cuts on nose.. this is bad. we have other cats too. I have so much stress on me and so little time to do what I need to do. Is there anything natural that we can do? I know my mom probably wont bring them to the vet.....

That cat NEEDS to go to a vet. It is probably just upper respitory, and yes, the kitten probably already has it either way. You really should put the kitten back with the mother cat. The kittens immune system is already compromised by the mother being sick, but without mom's milk, and the mothers antibodies, the baby will more than likely die. It has a much better chance of surviving if it is with mom. And the adult cat really needs to go to the vet to get on some meds.

Bloody cuts? This isn't herpes, usually herpes is runny eyes only. The sneezing, runny nose and eye problem sounds like an upper respiratory infection. You'd need antibiotics to clear that up faster than letting it run it's course, especially if she's a new mother.

Herpes is a virus, if the mother has it, then the kittens do too. You can treat her for it by giving her 250-500mg of crushed lysine, the pills are about $4 for a bottle of 60, which is at least a two months supply. It won't hurt her, won't interact with other medication and won't cause problems. Lysine binds to the herpes and keeps it from affecting the cat. We use it with our FIV + cats, who often have the runny eyes. Crush the pill with the back of a spoon and sprinkle it over the dry food, it doesn't have a taste. The pills are too big to try to give to a cat so you need to powder it.
