Are there any cities no more than a 2 hours drive from NYC that i can get a 1 bedroom apartement for less than $1000. Somwhere where the cost of living is reasonable with the amentie of being able to drive to NYC for some fun after work?

Two hours is a pretty long drive. I think you can find an apartment for that price, possibly even closer than that. I know nothing about housing in New Jersey, where you definitely could look, but I'm sure on Long Island, in eastern Nassau County or Western Suffolk, you would be about an hour or so from Manhattan and should be able to get something in your price range. Often, people rent out apartments in their homes. That could work for you.

You can share a two bedroom apartment in an out of the way neighborhood in the city for that but your own is tough. It might take a while or a deal or knowing the right person. Anywhere within commuting distance is expensive for a one bedroom.

Try Elizabeth, Jersey City, or Hoboken across the river in New Jersey. Most like, however, for a $1000 you might be able to get a studio apartment if you get lucky.

In New Rochelle and Dobbs Ferry you can get a 1 bedroom apartment for that price. Dobbs Ferry is much nicer, but still a while away from the city.

Look in Brooklyn
