We were doing a drill in volleyball practice. It was almost the end. We had been running around A LOT, and I hadn't been drinking water that day (I know I should've!!) and I got absolutely no sleep that day.
So by the time we got to this drill, I was exhausted and had a horrible headache, especially because it was really, REALLY hot in the gym and all the lights were shining down on us. I noticed I was sweating more than normal. I started feeling really light-headed and everything litterally started going black. I could just see the outline of things. I could barely see by the time I got out of there, and I was stumbling.
I managed to reach a water fountain. I drank from it and everything wasn't all dark anymore, but I felt like I was about to throw up. So I rushed to the bathroom but I didn't throw up, I just felt really, really weak and confused at what had just happened. Lesson: drink alot of water and get a good night's sleep.

What would've happened if I stayed in there, and had not gotten a drink or anything?

You were probably suffering from dehydration more than anything. Even though you had no sleep, the dehydration is probably the culprit. You were exercising and your body was trying to cool down which is why you were sweating. However, your water reserves were so low that you started to get the symptoms of feeling faint: vision fading, headache, light-headedness. If you hadn't gotten water, you would have passed out. It was the water you needed...not to get out of there.

You became nauseaous after the water probably because you guzzled a lot of it very quickly. Your stomach just wasn't ready for that much that soon after having had none all day.

Yes, your lesson is to get rest...we all need that and always to remain hydrated....especially if you are going to be participating in physical activity and in the heat no less!
