Had a yard sale and got a terrible sunburn on my face and ankles. My arms and legs are burnt too but nothing like my ankles and face. My ankles are swollen really bad and my face is gettin better but WHY would my lips be so swollen? I dont think they are burnt, there normal color and not sore at all and theres no sunburn around it just my nose and forhead. I didnt go to the dr cuz Ive had this before and know what to do to treat it but Im so curious why are my lips swollen? Oh and weird thing was I was barely in the sun I stayed in the shade 98% of the time cuz I know how bad I get in the sun. Can you burn in the shade too???

I've had a similar experience. Perhaps you lips are swollen because you are dehydrated.

You can burn in the shade too because the sunlight reflects off different surfaces & enough of the sun's rays can get through the shade cover to cause sun burn.

Yes you can get a sunburn in the shade, since the sun can still get to your skin. It could be either from reflective surfaces or if the sun only touches you once in a while, say like your under a tree.

Go to the doctor and see if they can give you some thing to relive the swelling and any pain that you may have. Your lips could be burned as well, remember that the skin texture of your lips is different than the skin on your hands and face. You can get wind burn on your lips, by simply licking them too much when your out in the wind so that maybe that may have caused them to swell too. Or you could have a sun allergy, I know that sounds strange but it can happen.

I have a friend that had some thing similar happen to her, she has allergy's to sunlight. See the doctor and get some help with this, they can give you medicine that will help you a lot faster than anything that you buy over the counter.

Good luck and feel better soon. Do see a doctor.

you may have a combination of sunburn and heat rash or reaction from the heat. and yes you can still get sunburn on the shade if you are more sensitive to the heat and sun. it sounds like you r body is reacting to the heat if you also have swelling. I suggest drinking a lot of water, staying indoors and keeping very cool. You can also put some ice packs on any swollen areas to relieve the swelling but within a few days it should be fine.

to much heat, if you had lip gloss or lip balm the moisture probably swelled them. If is doesn't go away go to the Dr.

Abreva, it will moisturize and help those blisters heal up, feels pretty good too.
