I use a loofah on my legs... it keeps the dead skin cells from clogging the pores, I make sure I moisterize after I get out of the shower also keeps the skin from drying out and clogging pores, I use a shave gel (no foam) for dry skin and a Venus razor... it has improved my legs drastically.

I have curly hair and have the same problem. The venus razor did in fact make a big difference. I also just started using TendSkin's Air Shave gel (best I have ever used). It reduces the irritation that causes bumps as well. Try shaving only every 2-3 days and make sure you exfoliate on the off days and moisturize.

You need to make sure to exfoliate your legs every day. This will help keep the skin from growing over your hair follicles and causing the hair to grown back down under your skin.

Try using an exfoliating scrub in the shower every morning , and then using an exfoliating lotion like AmLactin (has Lactic Acid in it, dissolves dead skin) at night.
If you can't find AmLactin in your drug store, you can buy it on Amazon.com.

I know it is a pain, but shaving daily instead of skipping days will help, too. Just make sure you use the scrub before you shave, not after, or it will sting!!

Try a product like Tend Skin or a toner w/ salicylic acid.

You can make your own:
8 ounce bottle of distilled water add four crushed, UNCOATED aspirin
or
mix of 1/2 water, 1/2 witch hazel, 15 crushed, UNCOATED aspirin, and 2 drops of tea tree essential oil and 2 drops of rosemary essential oil

Salicylic acid will loosen dead skin cells & expose the ingrown hairs.

Exfoliate your legs gently w/ a wash cloth. Use a pair of pointed tweezers to extract the hairs as they come through. Avoid shaving until you've gotten rid of the ingrowns.

there are products out their that soften the hair and make it thinner, a depilatory cream will do this too, I haven't used them personally because I use an epilady, it is a very old device but it works by pulling the hair out. And after using it for so many years I almost don't have hair on my legs. Shaving sometimes causes hair to grow back in thicker and darker, which is something you want to avoid. You can also try waxing, because this pulls the hair out too. I personally don't like waxing because it can be messy if you do it your self and costly if you go to the salon. There are also other products that work like the epilady on the market, you might want to look into them. sadly anyone can get an ingrown hair, I pop them like a pimple, and I pull the hair out. If you can afford it, get electrolysis. It is costly but permanant after about 3 or 4 sessions. Also put pimple cream on the ingrown hair to help make it go away.
