A friend sent this too me. As a Navy Veteran, I loved it...heres hoping all of the Vets out there appreciate this.

It is the VETERAN , not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN , not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN , not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN , not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN , not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN , not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN ,
who salutes the Flag,

It is the veteran,
who serves under the Flag, !

VETERANS KNOW THAT THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE HAS NO EXPIRATION DATE.

GOD BLESS THEM ALL

Well... I thinks its true, and agreeable, and we should always say "thank you" to the men and women who are in or have ever been is service... that's about it...

I don't think we (as a nation) really have a problem with this issue anymore... at least not like during Vietnam... yes, there was the horrible oversight at Walter Reed but the moment that saw light, heads rolled at the Pentagon and changes were initiated... I don't see any of our troops being called "baby killers" anymore... which is, of course, a good thing...

What do you think veterans become after they leave the service?
I'm sorry to see the thumbs down here. I meant it exactly as I wrote it. Veterans become the politicians, lawyers poets, doctors, reporters, preachers, and yes even union organizers. They use the things they learned in the military about discipline and love of country to the workplace where they fight for what they consider to be right Having fought for those rights, they want them to continue in private life.

I think,
it explains something that too few know.

I think,
it is something that many do not admit.

I think,
it will not be understood by some.

I think,
you chances of understanding increase with each passing generation.

I think,
the terrorists underestimate how many of us do understand.

I think,
those who do understand are the only true Americans.
