I was watching Larry King the other night and Tammy Faye was the guest, and as we all know that would be her last interview, she made a statement that she wanted to be cremated and not buried because she feared that the worms would eat her, is this true that if you get buried that worms eat your remains?

No, most of the coffins are pretty well made with sturdy wood keeping out insects, fungus & other underground vermon. I think Tammy Faye may of just occured a phobia as she isn't from this generation. Things like these can be picked up really easily through childhood habits even through someone telling you a wee fib, like you have picked it up. It's weird what stays with you.

I would rather be buried in a garden somewhere where the worms would eat me and fertilize the ground. Over time most caskets are going to breakdown and yes worms may eat you.

Eventually yes, even if your coffin is sealed tight over time bugs get in. Its the natural process of life for other organisms to eat what is left and create new for the new lives being born every second.

yeah, what do you think?? I mean you decompose in that box.... My mom owns a funeral home and they do 90% cremations, i think a lot of people just dont like the thought of their body rotting and being eaten by worms and bugs!

eventually. but this isn't a big deal. we take from Mother Earth by eating while we are alive and the least we can do is enrich our Mother Earth by replenishing her a little upon our leaving this plane of existence.

Depending how well sealed your coffin is its probably not the case right away but the coffins are usually wood and bugs can it thru it so if one is not already decomposed its def. a possibility.

its possible bugs could get into the coffin, bugs are very sneaky like that. but its just a dead body you are not in it anymore, you feel nothing, she would rather be set on fire no big deal. sounds more dramatic that way anyway.

i doubt it, because they put you into a vault, inside of a casket, and way under ground, but it may be possible for them to get in, but either way, it dont matter because after you are in the ground no one will ever see you again anyways : P

no. not until the coffin deteriorates. Even then, your body would have turned to dust by then, completely away from all the elements.
