What type of Fluid is used in a 97 Dodge Neon Manual Trans.

The book states that the MVT350 is the orginial but I heard it was updated to ATF4. The book also states that it may be replaced in future years to a newer product.

Is the ATF 4 the best product at this time?

atf4, is the best to put in it,all it is is automatic transmission fluid, they been using that for a while now,it cools and lubricates a lot better than the thicker oils do,but that will be fine to use in it,good luck on it.,,PS i use dexron or mercron in mine, and it does good,as long as its a good quality fluid.

High tech answer to follow:

Mobil 1 5W-30.

Known all over the USA as the best lube for a chrysler/dodge/plym FWD manual transmission.

Don't believe me, ask Carrol Shelby or one of several E-Stock National Auto-Cross Champions that raced these Neons in the late 90's.

ATF +4 is now the Chrysler approved version of transmission fluid.
