You are not depressed. Thinking you are depressed will make you feel more depressed. My younger sister has gone through that stage in life without previous mishaps. For her it happened suddenly. Everyone said she is depressed and that train of thought made her more depressed.
What helped her is when I took home a friendly dog, Candy, from the local pound. Candy has never left her side and since Candy needed her daily walks, everyday my sister goes out of the house, happy too because of Candy's playful attitude.
Another pet might be suitable also for you but you must ask your parents first before buying a pet and you must have the desire to take care of it.

You are in a depressive state. Something must have triggered it. Think what has happened recently in your life to upset you and then you can deal with it. Do make an effort to get ready and get out of the house. It does really help. Go somewhere where there are people or ask a friend or family member to do something nice together. Watch some comedy on the TV nothing serious, try to laugh. Don't drink alcohol or caffeine it makes it worse. Don't suffer in silence. You will be okay but you must phone someone or ask a helpline for some assistance. Keep breathing deeply in and out slowly until you feel more calm. Remember you are not the only one who has this and you will respond to help that is for sure. Good luck xx

Why did you not mention your parents; if you have been self harming since 9 years old this is serious? It should have been brought to the attention of a professional a long time ago. You may have Borderline Personality Disorder with attendant depression. This is treatable only with psychotherapy; med's don't cure it but may help the depression. You may have Dysthymia which is also treatable. Look these two conditions up in Yahoo! web search (wikipedia has good summaries) and see if the Symptom descriptions seem to fit. Then tell your parents and ask them to get you to a doctor if they do fit.
Good luck, good health, peace and love!

What is the source of your depression? This is a must know if you want help. You have to start at the source.
Perhaps you just need some time, lots of people withdraw, sometimes it doesn't last long, sometimes you need help to get back on track. Just the fact that you ask about this shows that you're still thinking properly, that you know it's not right to feel like this. But in order to help, I need more info. You say your depressed, but you don't say why.
I suggest you call a friend and talk to them, it might pep you up a bit. Or submit another question to tell what brought on the depression.

Oh lovey you are depressed, which is such a black place to be in. It is truly awful, but it is also really treatable. Make an appointment with your Doctor and go have a chat with them. I know that the last thing you want to do is see people, but isolating yourself will only make you feel worse. Do you have a best friend that you can call up and ask to come around for a chat? It may make you feel less alone if you can share how your feeling. Good luck.

Get 1 good friend in mind, someone who you know is trustworthy, and come clean with that 1 person, tell them what you are going through and ask them to help you make it to either your doctor or a local hospital...You Really Must get some professional help. With their help you can (eventually) get back to some semblance of a real life without all the tears and such.
This is a big step, you coming online and letting people know that you need help......we can listen and possibly advise and encourage but you need to follow this advice up and reach out to a more professional area.
Good luck !!!

It sounds like something I'm too familiar with, your suffering from depression. Could be that something triggered it off. First thing to try is to ask yourself why you're crying? Believe me, staying at home is not the solution though I understand where you're coming from but the more you let the depression take over, the longer it will take for you to get out of it. Why not talk to your very best friends? If this goes on, it would be wise to seek professionnal advice by going to your doctors. Come on, chin up! Pick yourself up, dust yourself down.... Hope you get better soon

Hon, you are depressed! Go to your doctor and tell them. They will probably suggest seeing a psychologist and possibly a low dose of anti depressant. Taking medication is a very personal decision but DEFINATELY see a psychologist (I'm not saying a psychiatrist) who will probably help you to find the source of your depression and how to climb out of the fog. You're not nuts, you just need to take a step in the right direction. Call a trusted friend and just talk. But get up, and go to the doctor. Now!

Crying and Sleeping are two signs of depression. Depression is a serious thing that needs to be taken care of. Talk to a trusted adult. They will somehow be able to help you. But the only person who can truly heal you is God. He sometimes allows a time of depression to set in because he has seen how far away you have gone from him and wants you back. So he loves you enough to bring him back to you...even though sometimes the only way to get your attention is through something bad.

it could be depression. im 16 and have been depressed for about 7 years. i spend most days sleeping and crying. when im not asleep and not crying, i cant concentrate and just zone out. i just started going to a psychiatrist a few weeks ago, by myself. its scary at first, but i figure that if going can help make me feel better, is worth it. anyways, if it is depression you need to see a doctor (especially if youre hurting yourself).
