your question doesnt provide enough information to be answered correctly, but from what i know, i wouldnt buy a 16 mb card, unless it is your only option.

Depends on the resolution setting of the camera. If the photos are low resoltution with each taking up say 256 KB, you can expect about 64 (may be a couple less). IF the resolutions and thus the file sizes are higher, expect lesser number, as low as 8. If you post more details about the camera specs, a more precise answer can be given.
