All world records except for the mile are in meters. The closest metric distance is 5k which is 3.1 miles. The current world record for 5k is 12:37 by Ken Bekele from Ethiopia. That is equivalent to 12:10 for 3 miles.

What David said is right. One thing; he ran 3 miles of the 3.1 race in about 12:10. If he were running just 3 miles, he might get a little better time for 3 miles.

bob1234.. a lot of people can run at their one mile pace. If they're doing sports at high school, like cross country, track, or maybe even soccer guys can run. I can run 3 mile around in 17 minutes, but which is pretty bad. :P

Technically it should be around 11:45, but people cant run 3 miles at their 1 mile pace so David is correct.
