I'm sick of not being able to pet and hold my kitty. Everytime I go to pet her she bites me. She's just playing, I know, but it's 24/7. There's not a sinlge momment that I can just pet my cat. She's too hyper. I started to let her outside and she's seemed to calm down a bit. I finally got to pet her and hold her. Maybe she just needed a night out to get all the agression out on her own. But will getting her SPADED make her less playful? How do I make my cat calmer and more of a CUDDLER?

Spaying her will calm her down and prevent health problems and kittens down the road (it is the responsible thing to do besides)
If your cat is young then she will calm as she will mature.
But some cats just won't ever be big cuddlers. Love your kitty for her quirks.
And for the love of Zarquon, GET HER SPAYED.

You didn't indicate how old she was, but if she is over 4 months, it definitely is time to get her spayed. She will likely settle down. If she is ready to mate and you let her outside, you will wind up with lots of problems down the road.

Biting is a problem that you have to train her not to do. Your hands, arms, etc. are not toys. You have to get her attention when she bites, and often that is a very gentle tap on the nose or head, followed by a firm NO. Do not look to punish her, since she doesn't know she is doing anything wrong. You just need to get her attention, and use the word NO. Since she is going at you at close range, a squirt bottle may only make her afraid of you, as she will associate getting close with being punished. A squirt bottle is good for training, but usually like keeping her off counters, etc. and not for close quarters.

You can also try and engage her in a vigorous game, such as with a string to tire her out, and then see if she is more receptive to cuddling.

Our cat, has been neutered, and he does play alot, but if after a while he will tire out and decide to lay down. I would make sure that your cat has plenty of toys to play with. One good thing that we found that can keep your cat going is one of those laser pointers. Our cat will chase it point of light non stop, but after about 10 minutes or so he gets tired and just lays down. I think your cat has a lot of energy and right now she just doen't have a way to expend the energy so when you do pet her she thinks you are playing.

When our kitty is relaxed, we can hold him just like a baby.

Kittens HAVE to play, and usually they use all their energies up on their litter mates. Since she only has you--you're the target. Use toys that keep her at a distance (but don't let her eat string type toys). Toss things, drag things, get her to use her energy up. They can't be calm when they have to MOVE and play. Once she's tired out she'll be better for holding.

Spaying won't change her personality.

Making her stay outside unsupervised exposes her to dogs, cars, owls, hawks, raccoons, bad kids, and other things that can kill or severely injure her. Don't do it. She's also more likely to pick up tapeworm, fleas and roundworms.

Help her burn off her extra energy, try tossing one piece of kibble across the floor so she has to run after it to eat it. Get a laser pointer and make her chase it up and over furniture. Get her to jump on and off the bed to get her kibble pieces.

Oh yes, you most DEFINITELY need to get her spayed! It will calm her down.

Also, this constant hyperactive energy should be settling down by the time she's around a year or two old. Wear her out with the toys before you try for cuddles, and if you should happen to have a fleece throw, they LOVE those.

If your cat is a kitten then she is probably enjoying the world and having her childhood moments. Try getting some toys to play with her and get her tired out then see if she will have a nap with you on your lap. Try putting a blanket on your lap and then laying her down and petting her. As cats grow older some become lap cats. I have a Tabby that def. is! And another cat that wont lay on my lap at all.

Most kittens play 24/7 but she will run that energy out eventually if you want to cuddle with her wait until she about to go to sleep or is the she will love to snuggle with you.
