seems like some are not getting my point.. the tax money or the mosque building is not the issue here... it is the fact that some people want to spread hate through lies...

You see how desperate some people are to spread misinformation regarding Islam? And do you see how quickly and easily others assume this misinformation to be true, and continue to believe, after it has been shown to be false?

I pay taxes to provide me with services. Is a mosque a vital public amenity? No. As an atheist, am I getting anything from it at all? No. So I'd oppose it. But, lying to people about the mosque receiving money when it isn't would be hateful, if that is what has happened.

Religions should raise their own money to fund construction.
And I'm not being bigotted towards Islam here. I feel that way for all religions.
That article however, shows nothing but hatred towards Islam and says that Christians are "burying their heads in the sand" when it comes to voting either for or against the mosque, solely because of the 57% vote in favor of building the mosque.
Religion only breeds hatred towards people who think differently then them.

Not hate, but no reason to build a mosque with tax money.

Sounds like hate. What do you call the circulation of those Danish cartoons? You know the ones that included parodies of the prophet some of which that were not even printed in the Danish newspapers. You remember, the ones that caused hundreds to be masacred in the riots put on in the name of the prophet? Sounds like a two way street to me my good fellow.

Misinformation, typo, whatever... nobody can ever claim they know the intention of whatever lies behind a thought or a deed unless you're clairvoyant or a buddha, so it's always best to not try to be so divisive or stir up more divisiveness where it's going to cause further upset, unrest, anger and hate, which a perpetuate a nasty cycle that's harder to eliminate than to prevent.

I would agree that this is some media trying to spreak racism and hatred but then again, people voting didnt actually go and do research before casting their vote.
This just means the source of this rumor was wrong, no one else.

okay- hate does not equal taking community money and putting it into a private function...
I don't want to pay for the next Christian church to go up any more than I would want to pay for a mosque or a synagogue- this doesn't mean that I hate muslims, it means that I don't want them using money that could be used for roads, schools, or library books to go to someone's religion.

I call it the right of the people. Daily, you all are digging your own graves in our countries pushing for exceptions to the rules like this. Bunch of whiny crybabies.
