December to January can be a peak season for the snow birds, those people living in the snowy regions of the world. Depending on where you are coming from. From Los Angeles the fares are from USD 770 to USD1,000+ I would not pay more than USD1,200 for a round trip

Hotels, depends on the supplier. Try www.asiarooms.com, I did notice price increases effective November 2007. I will be there in November 2007, I just checked. Also, check www.kayak.com or www.sidestep.com for both hotel and airline fares.

Rooms for 4 star start around USD 40 per night and up.
3 star start around USD 20 per night. Check the reviews of the hotel. Try to stay near the subway or skytrain. Taking a taxi is inexpensive but time consuming. If you are not in a hurry, then take a taxi.

A couple other sites are www.bangkok.com for tours, shopping and miscellaneous information on Bangkok

www.thaiwebsites.com for tour and other information on Thailand.

Good luck

January is the high season here in Thailand for the beach resorts, the price can go up as much as 50% during this season. Prices for hotels elsewhere normally stay the same all year round. So it depends on where your going in Thailand. Airline prices are going up and up due to fuel cost. You didn't say where your from so I can't give you an good answer.

Yes - peak season around that time. Depending where you are coming from.
For example, from Australia - it tapers off about third week of January and become the "shoulder" season as it is the end of summer school holidays here - but flights still can be real busy at the best of time.
It is probably still very high demand for people coming from colder part of the world.

If it relatively is your first time in Thailand, i does not avert Bangkok while you evaluate this is a great city. Bangkok has a number of outstanding factors of interest to work out, alongside with: Grand Palace Wat Po Wat Arun You likely ought to e book your lodging beforehand once you're coming down throughout the time of severe season. Winging it fairly is no longer a great concept throughout the time of height booking sessions, and the inns will in all probability be extra high priced in case you do confirm to attend and notice. My in demand coastline places in Thailand could comprise Khao Lak and Krabi, the two one among which grant a much extra comfortable coastline scene than you may locate in the two Phuket or Samui. Chiang Mai is likewise a fantastic place to get to comprehend the authentic Thailand, and is extra often than not seen the cultural center of Thailand.
