there's this girl that likes me and shes 16 and I'm 18 and people tell me that its illegal cuz shes a minor. And we've gotten intimate before but we havent had sex yet. Can i get in trouble if I dated her? What about if I had sex with her just because?

Technically speaking yes it is ilegal. There is a kid who got in trouble for having sex with a minor. He was 17 at the time and she was 15. The procecutor threw the book at the boy and he went to jail. It was o yahoo news the other day. The news get more twisted because the court now changed the law in which would aquit the boy from jail He already serve 2 years. The prosecurto does not want the boy to go free. However, the prosecutor is in deep water too because He distributed the tape that show the evidense that he did have consensual sex with a minor. Well, thats distribution of child pornography. The two cases are being reviewed because eveyones agree that the boy should had not had gone to jail and it was an abused on the law. However, it is not as easy as that. It could take years to get him out with the opposition from the procecutor.
What I'm trying to get at is that if someone wants to get you in trouble they can use that against you. The law will have to act. It wil all depends on what is on everyones agenda. If the procecutor wants to make himself look like the most moral perspon in town then you are SOL.
So you say, who would do such a thing. Many people really. The girls parent for one if they do not like you or think is wrong. Another possibility is another fellow student. Maybe there is a guy who likes the girl and would like to take you out of the picture. The same with a girl. There could be a gilr that likes you so she would rather have you in jail that have you be with someone that is not her. Yes, people are that F-up. Yet another option is some lazy have nothing to do person in your neighborhood who is always getting into peoples business. They see something like that and all of a sudden they feel the moral duty to screw your life up.
Bottom line is you could get in trouble. Be careful. Remember the law is not about what is fair or not. Is about what was written in a book.

Go ahead! If you don't mind getting a lot of sex in the near future -- in JAIL! It is illegal, despite what many idiots on here will tell you. What you have already done with her is illegal, and if her father finds out, you will be in jail, and when you get out you will have to register as a Sex Offender for the rest of your life.
Keep in mind that most of the answers you will get on here are from young boys or girls who don't understand the laws, or who think it is cool.
Until she is 18, she is illegal for you. Why do you think underage girls are called "jailbait?"

You cannot legally get in trouble if you date a minor, but if you get involved with a minor, you may eventually end up having sex and that is illegal, to have sex with a minor. It's considered statuatory rape and all she has to do is tell police that you raped her and you get screwed for life and she takes your money...its happened before. Dude dont worry about it and find another girl...i know for a fact there a plenty of hot chicks who are willin to bang and that are of legal status...good luck!

Gary, it's a good idea that you don't have sex with her. First of all, she's not even an adult. Now, does this sound right? An adult having sex with a teenager? No. So, you make your choice.

Check with your state. Also if you wanna date her go ahead, but one thing is don't get her naked. All you can do is kiss. If she is cool you won't get in trouble unless th parents find out. Watch out dude. Sometimes the parents can give permission

in some US states, that would definitely be statutory rape, and you could be arrested.
in some states, however, it would be perfectly legal.

Sexual contact is illegal and you can go to jail. Dating is up to her parents. Contact includes oral sex and touching the genitals.
