I actually heard that the next target was the television show, "The Backyardagins" but don't tell them I leaked that secret or they'll be onto the fact that we now know they're picking harmless childrens stories and creative works of art to call evil and sinful.

Philip Pullman wrote a series of books called the "His Dark Materials" trilogy. They are making a film of the first book, The Golden Compass. When people start to read those books, then his main character, Lyra, will become the next target. BTW, these books are GREAT; rather in the Harry Potter vein but aimed at a slightly older audience. They can be read and enjoyed on several levels--but the church is one of the big villains in these books.

The Church has enough real enemies to worry about fictional characters.

I am going to miss Harry Potter.

I think the next fictional character to become the enemy of the church will be a woman who supports choice, gay marriage, and is a war protester. Now, who do we get to write it?

That's easy.

Lyra Belacqua. From Northern Lights/The Golden Compass.

Just wait for the movie to come out and for the fundies to read the entire Dark Materials trilogy. (Or at least have their pastor tell them how evil it is)

JK Rowling just leaves out all religion.

Philip Pulman activly exposes the ugly truth of it.

It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE for **any** FICTIONAL character to be the enemy of a church, or of anything else.

Strangely enough, though, there are actually people who are IGNORANT enough not to realize that -- such as the brainwashed, **pseudo**-Christian lemmings of the RRR Cult. The "Religious" Radical Right.

I think the deal is that Potter was just the latest vehicle by which certain influences were introduced to young people's minds. There are worse ones.

Family Guy

Harry Potter was never an enemy. Spongebob will never be an enemy even though they might cross-drees and have drug references, he will never be an enemy.

Family Guy is the enemy.
