I have a permanent handicap parking placard permit. However, should I park in a disabled parking space and not have it displayed on my rear view mirror when I got cited for it, I would be penalized and given a fine. In California it is steep, and this isn't a lenient traffic violation to get around. If you want to plead not guilty be prepared to have more court appearance dates to prove a reason. Traffic courts don't have court stenographers either due to the high volume of tickets and judges have more power than even criminal courts to pass sentencing.

Here in Indiana if you pay your fine before going to court then you can skip the court date.If you parked in a handicapped parking space and legally are not allowed to I don't see how you can plead guilty and think you can win. To the poster who said it was morbidly obese people who use the handicap privilege do you realize a lot of overweight people are overweight because of physical handicaps and not the other way around?

Sure. You can plead any way you want. Then you hire an attorney (because a person representing themselves in a court of law has an idiot for a client) and when you are found guilty anyways, you pay extra court costs and the attorney fees.

It would be possible to plead not guilty as long as your car was not in the space.

If the spot wasn't clearly marked or the handicap sign on the ground is really faded. It's easy to get around this when there's snow covering the ground, I don't know otherwise though.

Only if you have a permit or tag. pay the fine if you go to court you well have court cost on top of the fine.

What are you going to do, tell them you're illiterate and couldn't read the sign? Pay the ticket and don't park there again.

You'd better pray the judge isn't in a wheelchair.

Quick get a handicap placard from your doctor. No handicap people earned the right to those prime parking spaces. Even though it is morbidly obese people who use them when they should be out walking with the rest of us. You loose up to $250 and do not pass GO.

Give the judge a chuckle and tell him/her that you were mentally disabled at the time.
