Was it a completely new install of the OS on a freshly formatted disk, or an upgrade from an earlier version?

Also, what OS? And at what point does it hang- after a few minutes of usage, after the desktop appears, after the splash screen? And finally yes- what OS?

That said, the most common reason for freezes are bad or incompatible driver versions- so you may need to download different versions of your video, sound, network etc drivers from the manufacter's website.

But we really can't offer many suggestions without more info...

What is your os????????????? if it is vista toss the disk and install xp

you should format your hard drive it doesnt work you should probably think of getting a new hard disk
