Burma Government May Move to Abolish Christianity With Buddhist Support ?

Government officials have shut down churches in this capital city and have disallowed the construction of new church buildings. The number of bibles allowed for import is limited and in-country printing of bibles and Christian literature is restricted.

"Some Buddhist monks came and started shouting, 'don't worship God here – he has nothing to do with us,'” David said. “They said we were trying to establish Christianity in the village and they did not want it. The monks and others threw stones at us. They hit us like a hard rain. Some of us were hit in the cheek, the neck and the forehead."

Report: Burma Plans to Wipe Out Christianity

A leaked secret document claims to reveal plans by the Burmese military regime to wipe out Christianity in the southeast Asian country.

Inside the memo were detailed instructions on how to force Christians out of the country, according to Telegraph.

Instructions included imprisoning any person caught evangelizing, capitalizing on the fact that Christianity is a non-violent religion.

“The Christian religion is very gentle,” read the letter, according to Telegraph, “Identify and utilize its weakness.”

Burma, also known as Myanmar, has a Christian population of about four percent, according to the CIA World Factbook. Persecution against Christians have come in the form of church burnings, forced conversion to the state religion of Buddhism, and banning children of Christians from school.

Buddhist Extremists Attack Christian-Run Children’s Home in Sri Lanka

A 200-man mob, accompanied by extremist Buddhist monks, has attacked a children’s home, which was being run by the Dutch Reformed Church in central Sri Lanka at the beginning of August.

Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), a human rights organisation which specialises in religious freedom, has reported that the mob fiercely attacked the home, following which, they climbed to the roof and planted a Buddhist flag on the roof.

Tina Lambert, Advocacy Director of Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), said: "We are extremely concerned about the continuing violence against Christians in Sri Lanka. This latest incident, in which child care workers have been threatened, is unacceptable and we urge the Sri Lankan authorities to bring the perpetrators of such violence to justice."

Hindu and Buddhists united to opose Christian evangelism

Hindu and Buddhist priests from across Asia are uniting to oppose Christian proselytism. The 1,000 delegates to a three-day conference in Lumbini, Nepal, discussed Pope John Paul II's recent call to evangelize Asia. Evangelism constitutes "a war against Hindus and Buddhists" and is a "spiritual crime," they said.

That means they are religious bigots and not terrorists.

Many people in the world today think that "Christianity" was forced on people by early Christians. This is a fallacy of the greatest kind. Catholics (not Christians....yes there is a difference) were the leaders of Crusades to "force" people into accepting their doctrines. They are nothing but pagans made over to look holy. 95% of what they teach and practice is spoken AGAINST in God's Word (KJV 1611)...not to be confused with the bible that they wrote to promote their own agenda. If you want to know how true Christianity started in Burma read the story of Adoniram Judson. He was a missionary to Burma in the 1800's. He spent 6 years patiently waiting for someone who would listen to the Gospel (not forcing down their throats). Finally there were a few that were interested and that is how Burmese Christianity was started. All our Lord commanded us to do was, "Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature." Mk 16:16. Those that will receive it will and those who won't won't. True Christianity has never "forced" people under penalty of death, torture, or imprisonment to accept Christ. Those murderers and terrorists who did were forcing people to convert to a religion and doctrine... not the Lord Jesus Christ. After all - true Christians know that men led by the Holy Spirit to repentance is the only way a person can be saved. Our goal is to show people in God's Word that, "...the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Rom 6:23. Once the truth is heard - it is between an individual and God Almighty as to what will happen next.

Nothing new, but the reason it's not called "terrorism" is because it's not, per se. This is hardly the first instance of a country with a state religion forcing other religions out. For all the "Christians" who think America should be a "Christian Nation," it should be food for thought - although I'm sure a lot of them think it would be just fine if Christianity was compulsory, because it's "right" after all.

Why does this upset you? Because people are being prevented from living life as they see fit, and believing as they will, due to the fact that they're a minority and the majority thinks it knows what's better for them? Well, you're in luck - you don't even have to leave America to find people in exactly the same plight. Look at what "Christians" in this country do to gay people!

The SLORC aren't so much a terror group as a secret police force being used by a ruthless dictatorship to keep the populace under its thumb. Not much consolation for our Karen/Kareni brothers and sisters who are suffering under them though (that they're being mistreated by a secret police force and not terrorists), and they truly need our prayers.

Anything that actually causes harm and suffering is NOT Buddhist, just like any other person who claims their harmful deeds as being of any other religion and is likely not.

People are people first, and usually swept away by their emotions and reactions to things that cause their own happiness to be tread upon, so just like the people who try to foist their OWN view of "happiness" upon them, often in an unwelcome manner, argument ensues.

Altruism, wisdom, compassion in any religion. If you put that first then you're less likely to suffer.

Maybe the local people (Buddhist ) see the Christians as imposing on their lives.
How would you feel if Bud dist , Muslims forced their beliefs on you.
That part of the world is Buddist. They do not want your stupid christian belief force on them. I think Christian missionaries are a form of terrorism. leave people alone. Your Christian belief is just that it is a belief. there is no truth to it.
joey322 said it better than me read that book
"THINGS FALL APART by Chinua Achebe fabulous book about truth. HOW EVIL AND DISHONEST CHRISTIANS REALLY ARE

they aren't terrorists just b/c they don't believe what you do!

have you ever read "things fall apart" by chinua achebe???
pick it up at your local library and educate yourself.

we have forced christianity down the gullets of the rest of the world for too long.
just b/c other people want to believe something else doesn't make it wrong.
i'm sure, if there are people who want to believe in christianity, in burma, then they can....no gov't can tell you what you can and can't believe.
but, they can kick you out of their country for diserspecting their beliefs and their culture.

chewing gum (or people chewing the gum) were disrespecting the country and others by spitting gum everywhere, so it was banned. i don't think bubbalicious came out and called them terroists!
besides, they are recanting and it's now available, but if you buy it, you must supply an ID card to do so....
interesting.

besides, you don't live there...why should anyone decide what happens in Burma other than their own people???

take care.
wake up.

I read the CNN story. The monks were telling the Christian evangelists to piss off, probably because they are terrified of their own government. It does not say Buddhists support the crack down so please don't spread such lies.

This is all true. I heard about it a little over a month ago.
Persecution is alive and well in certain parts of our planet.
In the U.S., the churches are largely compromised and liberalized, so they aren't attacked.
