No...but I would have let my kid take care of business in the pew first.

I think the only thing you did wrong was in not waiting to see the pastor or priest whatever and let him mediate this issue.
It's his church he should know if some usher is running off the trade. Sounds like she caused more disturbance than simply opening the door would have. She could have waited until the child was taken care of before ruffling her feathers in a more private setting.
If you don't know it's wrong you can't fix it.
Sounds like a catholic thing. Any church that deals that way with people is sure lacking in grace so if the preacher backs her up you know. You don't belong there. Come out from amongst them and find a spirit filled church. God Bless!

No, I would have done the same thing. Give me a break, telling someone what is going on during the service is way more important than a kid who has to use the bathroom. Cut it out. I would have left, but loudly! Call up that church and complain about the door man, they may not realize what a tool they have working there. That guy was a jerk.

I even have on no account heard of an usher blocking off the pew for the time of any provider at church. What if have been an emergency? i think of you have been suited for taking your new child out and then leaving. My next step may be to touch the church and clarify what got here approximately. There are no regulations for the time of a Christening or the different provider at church. I even have been to Christenings, Communions, Weddings, Funerals and characteristic continually seen somebody go away in the process the ceremony. I even have on no account, in spite of the shown fact that, seen an usher block everyone from leaving.

Ridiculous! There are certain parts of a Lutheran Divine service that it is preferred that you wait, if you can, but no one would ever keep you from going, especially with a little one. Now, an usher might stop you from going back in during an inappropriate time, so you might have to wait a minute or two. But to stop you from taking a little one to potty??? Please......
I'm sorry you had such a bad experience!

That is a pretty goofy Church to #1 prohibit the use of a restroom during a service and #2 have a Baptizm that lasts that long.

did you sit at the back, on the aisle? where you wouldn't have to climb over people to get to the door? were you sitting in front, in the middle?
if it wasn't a question of where you were sitting, then, IF they hadn't posted or verbally warned that leaving the room, for whatever reason was forbidden, they were wrong.
not being christian, i couldn't tell you why they would do such a thing, however, in my faith (judaism), even at the points in services where we as a congregation stand absolutely still, if there is a need to use the 'facilities', that person goes quietly, and then makes up the prayers they missed while otherwise engaged. to be honest, we aren't even supposed to pray while we need to use the 'facilities'. so, i totally don't understand what would cause such a totalitarian action.

The usher was wrong. Legalism is always wrong. The issue of a 3 year old being in an adult service is another issue.

No you were not wrong. Your child needed the bathroom. She is 3 years old and should not have to sit through the torture of a full bladder. Actually, no one should. If someone needs to use the restroom they should not be held back form doing so. I'm sure whichever denomination of faith you follow, the deity you pray to would not fault you for going to the restroom. It's just silly to think otherwise.

Perhaps consider how much you give your child to drink prior to such service. I make it my business to try not to have too much liquids especially before I go to Church b/c I know I'll be squirming the whole service and very uncomfortable. Just a thought. God uses our trial;s to strengthen our character in Him. Prayerfully I've helped. God bless.
Oh I almost forgot to mention....One reason most churches woul;d prefer for one to not go back and forth during service is b/c it honestly disrupts others and it takes away from the service. It's almost like someone talking the whole time behind you while you're watching a movie. (No offense and I totally understand you doing what you felt you had to do.)

No-- the USHER was TOTAlly wrong for BLOCKING your way!!
She must not have any kids.
When a child's got to go -- they've got to GO!! EspeCIALLy a 3yr old!
Any reasonable person would KNOW that exceptions must be made for mothers and their young children during ANY kind of service.
The rudest thing for me to see is a person leaving their seat during a prayer. But if it's someone with a young child -- acceptable.
That's just how it is.
