It really depends alot on what position the teeth are in. It's different if they have already broken the surface than if they are still under the gum and have to be removed 'surgically.' I have had all 4 of mine removed, 2 were just pulled and didn't hurt at all afterwards, but 2 were taken out surgically and did hurt a bit after. I was given pain medicine tho and it wasn't all that bad. The surgical removal takes a couple of days longer to heal, but the pulled tooth is just a couple of days max.

Most dentist don't pull teeth on both sides of your mouth at the same time because it makes eating difficult. Even when you have the teeth out, you can still chew on the opposite side.

This is like asking about child birth or any other surgery. It is different for every person.

I have seen people that had a hard time and couldn't eat for a week and others eating right out of the dentist chair. It depends on how fats you heal, how you deal with pain, and how you deal with the knockout meds.

I had a reaction to the meds so for me it was a longer recovery and mine weren't impacted or even split root yet. My sister on the other hand had all fur implacted and she did just fine.

My friend had his done and he was eating nachos and chili that night. Go figure.

Just relax and take it as it comes. Stop worrying so much. Take the meds they give you for the pain if you need them and take soup and very soft foods for the first day. Most importantly follow the orders on keeping the teeth clean. You do not want to get dry socket. I am sure he will tell you about it. Very very painful. Do as he says and you will be fine.

Depends on the person I suppose and how it is done. I had local shots and then he pulled them. Didn't hurt at all while getting it done. Afterwards you will have some bleeding and swelling. The main thing you will feel is some jaw tenderness and aching near ears. Take ibuprofen and use ice packs for the swelling. Make sure that when after you eat that you take a syringe and fill it up with some lukewarm salt water and use it to clean the extraction sites. Seems to make the healing come along faster as well as prevent infection. Good luck!

I got all four of mine pulled at the same time. I had a great experience as far as that is concerned. I didn't swell or bruise and I was up and around that day. I ate broth the first day but I was back to eating relatively normal the next day. The only pain I can say I had was the tugging of my stitches that week before I got them removed. After my stitches were out it didn't hurt at all. I made sure that I went to someone who had done that for many years. He had been working with his assistant for over 20 years, so he was great!

The top wisdom teeth are the easiest. The bottom are the ones that are usually impacted where as the root of the tooth wrap around the jaw bone. Only xrays will determine that. Other than that, it clots fairly quickly, and you will be able to eat softer foods within a few hours. Chew slow, the pain will be slight.

I had a pretty good experience. I was not in a whole lot of pain, I had meds for it. I followed the oral surgeons instructions, and was able to eat regularly in about 5-6 days. Some people I know who have had bad experiences, usually don't follow their surgeons instructions, then wonder why they got dry sockets! Best wishes!

I had to have all four of them cut out. They were impacted and they were interfering with my braces. The only thing I would do differently is that I would have encouraged my mother to have him write me a prescription of narcotic pain medication, which was not done, and I suffered needless pain. Basically I was able to eat solid food within a week and it was not nearly as bad as I had projected.

Yes, most of them are fairly painless and routine, mine were not and hurt a lot. They were impacted deep.
