If Jesus already took the Punishment for our Sins. Then all of our Sins are forgiven. So why do we need to ask for forgiveness again?

Because if they said we would burn in hell for our sins, we would just be like oh well I'm going to hell anyway I'll just do whatever.

If they only said jesus died for our sins and that was that, we would be like oh well I'm forgiven i can do whatever.

So instead they said that jesus died for our sins, but if we didn't ask god for forgiveness we would still go to hell.....the best scenario for control, get it?

We deserve the death penalty. Jesus took the punishment. It's a free gift.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In order to have the gift, you need to accept it. If you never take the gift out of the person's hands and open it, you don't have it, right? We do not HAVE to accept the gift though.

How do we accept this gift?
Romans 10:9-10 that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (10) For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

When we ask forgiveness, it's agreeing with God that we are sinners and need forgiveness. We need the gift, and we will gladly take it!

You don't have to repeatedly ask for forgiveness everyday - you are absolutely right. What you need to do however, is still acknowledge that you have sinned, thank God for his mercy in already granting you forgiveness, and genuinely ask for his power in helping you to repent. There is no need to have so much guilt that it keeps you away from the Father. When Jesus died on the cross, he bared all the sins of the world, past, present and future. He already knew everything wrong that we would ever do, but still chose to die for us any way, counting our reconciliation to God as worthy. We can only thank him and love him for that.

There is several viewpoints theologically they are first:

Christ died only for the elect, and not the whole world. Saying that God knew who would believe and those are the ones who were "predestined" to be saved from the foundation of the world. Thus it was limited atonement limited application - this is in error.

Christ died for all mankind for all sin. Thus God did not just weigh all the sin that would be committed but made Jesus Christ the Atonement for every sinful act and deed and nature. Thereby those who recieve Christ by grace the unmerited favor of God. Thus we unlimited atonement - limited application. Those that come to him when they were in sin, and by the work of the Holy Spirit convicting them of sins they repent meaning to go the opposite direction, whereby they have asked because in the asking is the acknowledging that they are sinners, and that there is nothing that they could do to change that status. Thus they come to God with no merit and asking they recieve by - "Here is the reason - for it is by 'faith' that we are saved and this not of oursleves it is the gift of God lest any man should boast" Thus God requires faith in Him, faith in that we give God all our sins committed against Him, This so that we may be born again of God, the reason for this is because God wanted to show His Love to man He bound all men over to sin so that He may have grace on them all. Therefore they would honor His Son. The reason why we must ask for forgiveness of sins is that we are honor and glorify His Son Jesus Christ.Who became a freewill offerring for not only our sins but the whole worlds. That He that does not honor the Son does not honor God who sent His Only Begotten Son into the World. God in His supreme love of His Son, predestined that He would die for sins before the foundation of the world and that through Him and for Him was the world created, that in the end or fulfillment of all things that creation would glorify and honor the Son as they do the Father that sent Him.

Thus once we have asked for the forgiveness of sins we become born again, born of God or born from above and given the Holy Spirit. We then realize that we have another culprit in our nature that is now revealed the sinful nature and this nature must be crucified! Put to death as Paul says. To do means that we put an end to all sinning in the body, this does not make us siness, this makes us empowered to fulfill all of God's requests that we are at the same time filled with the Spirit, and also empowered to witness of the glory of Christ, and as we walk we constantly walk with the Spirit. We come to ever command of God and by God's Spirit fully supplied in us we can accomplish every good and pleasing will of the Father, We live abundantly in His Name, We are overcomers, We fulfill all of God's desires in us and through us.

In truth, there is more to it. You must overcome the seeming force that would have you sin. Sin is never forgiven, but punished here and hereafter. If it were any other way, the human race could enjoy sin for eternity and remain in bondage.

What the Lord did on the cross was a finished work. He died as the Lamb of God to deal with the matter of Sinful Nature in us and also the sins in our conduct.
We need to apply what Christ accomplished on the Cross for us by coming to Him to take the provision He has made. Our Confession makes all the objective things that Christ did very Subjective IN us. Mere knowledge is not enough. Knowing that Christ did this for us still does not make what He did real to us.
Its like looking at food and knowing its a fact but not partaking of the food to nourish and supply your body. Christ accomplished the facts.. by faith we confess these sins to Him.. and in doing so we are blessed with the Peace of the Lord flowing over us. It is also our way of telling the Lord Thank You for paying such a high price to free us from Satan's grip...
Even as we go on in the christian life we will have failures and if we confess our sins He is faithful and righteous to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness

It is indeed an ongoing process that brings us unto maturity in the Lord Jesus..
May we NEVER be defrauded by satan into thinking that we do not need to confess our sins before God. This is satan's way of letting us harbour sin in our lives and sin cuts off our free fellowship with God.. If he can do this then he cuts off a way of the Lord going on in us.

This verse is really good in the epistles of John
If we walk in the Light as He is in the Light.. we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from every sin.

This is the cycle of LIFE
God is LIFE----> Fellowship with Him in Light----> He faithfully exposes any hidden sins in us----> confess these sins----> keeps us in fellowship---->this Builds up the BOdy of Christ in love...

May we all remain in the fellowship with Him each day

In Christ

He only died once. You cannot keep on sinning and expect him to keep on dying for you. Give the guy a break. Did he do that so you would stay the same and keep on sinning? Or are you supposed to straighten your act up?

jesus died on the cross because the jew elders and romans conspired to kill him as he was teaching something that will erode their authority. the cross was used then for all killings by romans. so thats the fact. jesus didnt say anything abt dying for something. he was martyred because of his beliefs. the clergy invented these terms of dying for our sins etc. so u got to be objective and rationalize certain terms. so dont accept whatever the clergy tells u. investigate. u answered the question yourself by stating the obvious. why ask for forgiveness. does it all make sense with such reasoning. its warped thinking. so we got search the truth

Jesus didn't die on the cross for our sins. What kind of God would demand a human sacrifice? How would Jesus's death cleanse our sins?Jesus died on the cross to demonstrate to us that death is not real. He was proving life is eternal.
