It is used to state that God created and allowed the two people named Adam and Eve to copulate, and not two people named Adam and Steve, therefore it follows suit that unless you are a man named Adam or a woman named Eve you should not be allowed to copulate, that's a shame for all the Daves and Sues, Pauls and Annes etc that are in love. Do you think homophobes realise how stupid it comes accross? Do you think it's a dumb saying too?

Before anyone trys to tell me what it represents, I already know, I just want to point out how dumb the saying is.

Is it dumb? Well, sure it is. But I kind of enjoy hearing, or reading, some chap say it as if he (it's always a guy) made it up, originated it, as if it hadn't been said 24.5 million times before. In any case, the Adam-and-Eve story is fiction, it makes no sense in the 21st-century, anybody with half a head of beans knows how our species evolved--and the first man wasn't snatched out of dust, or dirt, and the first woman did not come from Dusty's doggoned rib. Hey, it doesn't require a Harvard degree. (Happily, 'cause I ain't got me none.)

Perhaps God did create an Adam and Steve type combo but they failed to beget so He produced a beta version and the details of the prototype were expurgated from the Old Testament.

Yes it's stupid for example God of the bible allowed polygamy, so one could just say : God didn't create Adam and Eve and Eve and Eve and Eve

Since you're debating the SAYING and not the theology behind it, yes, you're 100% right. It's a stupid saying. It should have been "God made Adam and Lilith, but Lilith was too strong and not submissive enough so Adam divorced her and was lonely, so God created Eve because she was a good little wifey. Then Adam needed drinking buddies because he felt tied down to married life, and God created Steve." J/K I'm Christian and probably going to hell for that. ;-)

look for a start when they did copulate they were banished from the garden.

so if god was saying it was ok then they would not have been banished.

also if they were the only people on the earth along with their 2 sons where did everyone else come from? incest?

well, I've thought about this before and I'm not really sure what to think. I don't really think homosexuality is right, but I don't see what it is that Adam and Steve are hurting

What is wrong with injecting a little humour by a play on words?
Or are only non-bel;ievers allowed to laugh?
Over 1800 years ago a Christian called Tertullian said, "The Christian saint is always hilarious" (I'll go with that)

It might be dumb but homophobia is just that- a phobeia, which just like a fear of spiders they may not understand why they are fearful of it but it doesnt matter, they are fearful anyway.
Unless your refering to a hatred of homosexuality, which is totally different.
Yes the saying is kind of dumb, just like Anna and Eve is but no, it doesnt follow suit that any other name cannot be in love as thats removing it from its context, namely to point out it was man and woman, not their name

The word "homophobe" is used by people that can't understand what FEAR means.
No one I know that disagrees with homosexual lifestyle FEARS them. Come up with a more valid word.
How nonsensical.
A man and a woman= the survival and continuation of our human race.
I hate the Adam and Steve expression as well, but what's REAL is real.
Had God not intended that male/female was the "norm" our population would virtually cease to exist. That's the reality of it.
****LOLThumbs down me all day, but what I say is the truth.. if it was 2 males that God created initially to be the "norm" or 2 females. When they died it would be a wrap for humanity. Use that brain God gave you to reason. The NORM is a male and female. PERIOD

I don't agree 100% with your analogy but I understand and agree with the point you're making.

I'm a heterosexual female who has always thought that was the stupidest thing anyone could say in the supposed defense of heterosexuality.

I don't think they get past the fact that just because it's rhymes doesn't mean it makes sense.
