My digital camera lens suddenly has turned inward and now the camera wont work because it cant auto focus. It was working fine and taking pictures on the beach and then about an hour later it stopped working...any thoughts?

ps.. there is no sand in the camera or gears..thats not the problem...the problem is the lens :)

I don't think I have ever seen "inverted." However I know that having a good camera on the beach can be the death of it.

As soon as sand gets into the moving parts that can jam them and ruin it permanently. The salt spray also is not great for the electronics or the lens coatings.

I bring a cheap digital when I go to the beach just for fear of that kind of problem.

First I wouldnt try to repair this your self.please take it to shop there is sand in the gears and need to be cleaned out or the heat dryed out the grease on the gears...but take it to local shop and have them look at it

Cameras and beach sand (and/or moisture) don't mix.
