None. I have no problem with it. Not all Christians are against it. That is a stereotype... albeit a stereotype based on a fairly large and very vocal group!

A decrease in the number of traditional marriages has a negative impact on society as a whole. That has been statistically proven. This decrease has been happening with our without the homosexual marriage issue. Homosexual marriage is just another aspect of the societal and cultural downward spiral that is occurring over the last 50 or so years. Does it affect me personally? Not really. But I am not against it based solely on religious belief.

It's not that easy... the issue is BIGGER than that. It's that according to scripture that lifestyle is an abomination. Personally I don't get too emotional about it, because people will answer to God personally for what they do.
The problem I have is the conditioning of kids starting from a very young age. Kids now hit their teens and are all confused because they don't know if what was seen as "normal" admiration of someone/finding a same sex person attractive, now makes them possibly homosexual.
I am in one of the most overtly homosexual places in the world, Vancouver Canada, and legal homosexual marriage has been allowed here since 2003.
Pumping children's heads with YOU MIGHT BE GAY from a young age and conditioning them to think it's normal, COUNTERS the religious beliefs of many people (not just Christians) and obviously that can cause familial conflict etc.
Our rights to practise and teach (or protect) our kids from ideas of things that can potentially ruin their eternity up, got kicked to the curb to accommodate others, and it's simply off balance.
If there was more options so my Rights were seen as valid, and I could practise my religion and teach my children my religion, and them NOT be subjected to being told that some things that counters my religious beliefs is normal and OK, I'd have nothing to say... this is the ONLY reason why many Christians speak against it.

It probably would not affect me daily. As a parent though, I would be concerned about what is taught in schools about families. I might also need to explain why some kids have two dads or two moms. I would also make sure to explain why I think homosexual marriage is not correct.

i'm not a christian, but, i can't see how on earth the legalization of homosexual marriage could affect anyone who isn't a party to that marriage.
face it, whether or not gays marry, they don't have any effect on anyone else. if two gay men marry each other, then there are (in theory) two more women available for the homophobic hetero men. if two gay women marry, then there are (in theory) two more men available for hetero women. and, btw, even if gay marriage were not to be legalized, those men and women who want to marry would not be available for relationships among the heteros.
i truly believe that this is a matter of power and control, the homophobic religious right are trying to force everyone to 'fit into' their tightly constructed societal paradigm. in many ways it's analogous to how the taliban and the other islamofascists are imposing their beliefs on the common rank and file of the middle east.

My dad would probably get married if he finds the right guy, and I think it would resurface my mom's pain for quite a while. But, I'll be out of the house by the time all that might occur, so *my* daily life wouldn't be hugely altered. I should add that I'm not against it.

It wouldn't affect my life. What 2 consenting adults do is none of my business. Likewise, I don't particularly care for a hetro couple to come into my face and state "I'm straight". I think it's a private issue and I don't think gays should come in my face with "I'm gay". It's a private issue what adults do in their bedroom and I don't want to know about it. The latter part of the comment is for those like Rosie O'Donnell who keep forcing their bedroom choices down my throat. I feel gays should be allowed every opportunity straights have and should get the same respect. Good luck. 2D

The only valid claim I can understand from people is that they don't want their tax money going to support a supposed "sick" lifestyle. This is a ridiculous argument though, since we pay for prisons which house much worse people...(not implying homosexuals have anything wrong with them, but nobody is really all that good)

It wouldn't affect me one iota. I might have to attend a wedding or two as I have some homosexual friends, but other than that, my life would continue on as it is now.
