I've just started dating this guy for slightly more then a month. He has invite me to his apartment this saturday evening (1st time), and he says he's cooking.

He's my 1st bf and i'm really nervous. I just really like to know, what's the approprate thing to do:
Should I offer to go with him to purchase the ingredients?Should I go early and help him cook?
Should I bring anything? or ...
Should I just arrive on time, and later help out with the dishes? (that's why my best friend say she does).

I don't want to seem rude but I was told I shouldn't do everything, else he will expect more and more, and my best friend also advice I shouldn't sleep with him (I want to wait for a few more months), do I have to tell him this in advance?

I'm really confused, any advice is greatly appreciated! :)

We're both 21 and he stays with he brother (whom he says wouldn't be around on sat.)

let him cook for you, dont try to interfere with it. show up on time for dinner maybe bring a bottle of wine if you both drink. he is trying to make something for you. you take away from the meaning of it if you try to help. sure you can offer to help clean up afterwords. this is your fist time over there and you have only been dating a month, i would not sleep with him if i were you. but i also would not be telling him in advance. if he tries to pressure you into that tell him you have to leave.

I don't think you said how long you two have been going out so i'm not sure if you should sleep with him or not it depends on time and thing that you have done. As far as the meal that he is cooking don't bother bringing anything or going to buy the stuff with him, just stay after and help with the dishes. He will appreciate that and that will give him time with you away from the table. Good Luck!

If he's invited you for dinner, don't buy ingredients.
Maybe a bottle of wine and some candles. The candles are good because they are a romantic gesture and most guys probably wont have them in their homes, so they double as a gift.

Offer to help but don't help him unless he asks for it. Compliment him on the food but not too much. If it's bad and you say it's good, he'll probably be able to see through it so just be honest.

I've never had to worry about it, but I would kinda follow what your friend says. I would offer your help with shopping or dinner, but most likely he will want to do it himself and surprise you. Maybe you could make a dessert to bring, or at least offer to so you don't step on his toes if he is preparing something. Helping clean up is a good idea, if he agrees. And def don't sleep with him yet! You'll lose all respect.

Just show up on time.....you can bring wine if you both like it,
or a after dinner drink or even a desert of some kind.

After dinner, yes, I would help with the dishes. If he
wants to make out with you.....just tell him, you are not
ready to go all the way.

Ask him what time he would like you to be there, and ask what you can bring. Offer to help with whatever is left to do at that time and if he insists you not help, then just talk and be social.
He is expecting something in return, so don't lead him on. He will be disappointed so let him know that it will happen but its to soon for you just now.

How are you 21 and not know this? How is this your first boyfriend? Anyways, show up on time with a bottle of wine or dessert. You don't have to tell him up front that you don't want to sleep with him.

He's cooking, which means you just need to show up, he's obviously hoping to wow you with his cooking skills.

Tell him you want to wait if things start to get to hot and heavy, don't just blurt it out randomly.
