Read this article and tell me I'm imagining things. This city is basicly giving illegal immigrants citizenship despite what the law states. Giving them a Valid ID so they can go around the legal process.
They say we should feel sorry for them because they can't report a crime comitted against them because they are ILLEGAL. Well if they were legally in this country they wouldn't have to worry about that now would they?
This pisses me off to no end. Why bother having immiration laws if some dumb assed city is going to make it easy for the ILLEGALS and possibly terrorist to blend in with legal citizens?
New Haven can get away with this but other cities that pass ordinences making it illegal to rent housing to illegals are getting sued.
Ok, I'm ready for all the "Your a racist" crap. And of course we will not be able to debate this. I know there are people out there that feel the same as I do on this issue.

No, I agree with you and I don't understand why this is happening. People who are illegal are breaking our laws, and our goverment is letting them. Does anyone remember that kid back in the 90's who went to Singapore or Thailand with him family and vandalized a bunch of cars?? The law enforecement there treated him like they would a citizen when it came to punish him. They caned him, and I wouldn't have expected them to treat him any differently. Why is it, that in America, we let illegals particiapte in illegal activities, yet we do nothing to stop them or punish thier actions?? I know I am posing more questions than a solid answer, but I think that for once, America should step to the plate as our foreign counterparts have, and enforce our laws. The anchor baby clause is outdated and we are one of the few countries to still have it. America is a great place in so many ways, but there are also many problems that we need to fix, and giving illegal aliens ways to get around the system isn't it...

I agree with you, and I am certainly not racist. I actually helped one of my colleagues whose husband was having trouble getting his work visa by getting them in touch with Senator Warner's caseworker who was able to help them.
I am all for legal immigration. But any company, any city, or any person that helps illegals STAY illegal rather than trying to help them get legal is a criminal.
This is not about race or country of origin. I work in the hospitality industry and have colleagues from England, France, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Poland, Russia, Korea, Philippines, Belize, Jamaica, Ethiopia, South Africa, Israel, Japan and China. But they came here legally and they work here legally. Most are proud to say that they have become citizens. And I am proud and happy to work with them.

Thanks to people like you countries don't work right what if for any reason you have an accident with some one that is illegal and they don't have and ID and for that case don't have insurance you are gonna be in a problem because there's no way you are gonna know who is that people , so think is the better way to know who is in this country and don't blame the illegals for the terrorism in this country o tell me what happen on the 9/11 they were citizens taking classes legally and all the people who its been related whit this have even work in the army,FBI and other legal institutions so good luck

thats some pretty small minded thinking...
granting them citizenship? They still cant get drivers licenses or insurance to a car. The only reason they gave the ID so is that they can open bank accounts because they carry cash on themselves and always get robbed. The ID is only valid within city limits. Why dont you re-read the story?
Guess what NY cities and CA cities are going to do the same...
your right about one thing, there will be no debate because you are unwilling to look at both sides and dont care what the other side thinks....
