Jesus himself prophesied that true Christians would be a minority among self-described "Christians".
(Matthew 7:13,14,21-23) Broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it. ...Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. ...And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness.
The preaching work helps to establish Jehovah's Witnesses as true Christians. Anyone ignoring the public ministry also ignores Christ's plain command:
(Matthew 10:7,11,14) As you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.’ ...Into whatever city or village you enter, search out who in it is deserving...Wherever anyone does not take you in or listen to your words, on going out of that house or that city shake the dust off your feet.
Jehovah's Witnesses believe the bible to teach that the dead are unconscious and unable to interact with the living. However, the bible teaches that wicked spirit creatures (or demons) sometimes harass humans.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ephesians 6:12) We have a wrestling, not against blood and flesh, but ...against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places.

1. There are 7 million JWs in the world. That is not a small number. It increases each year. Even more people interested in learning. Why aren't there more faster? It could be more is required to be a real JW than just signing a membership roll or book. It takes study to really learn the basic truths of the Bible first to know what one is doing before one is allowed to be a JW.
2. As followers of Christ, we follow Jesus' orders. See Matt. 24:14; 28:19-20 and Romans 10:13-15. We preach as Jesus and his followers did. What is important is to reach everyone as it is a responsibility for their lives if we do not. Two reasons: First, to finding people yearning for truth and second to simply notify people what is happening. In all of history, Jehovah has always notified people when something was going to happen. Noah told people for 120 years while he was building the ark, of the coming flood. They did not pay attention, but had their warning. Noah's family had a clean conscience.
3. Do we believe there are ghosts? There are many things these stories can be. One thing they are definitely not is dead people. Eccles. 9:5,10 says positively the dead are are able to feel anything or think anything or do anything whatever. On the occasions when Jesus resurrected the dead, he referred to them as "sleeping". He fully knew what had happened and knew as with sleeping, they knew nothing of things going on around them and could do nothing about it.

1. Mat 7:14 "Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."
2. Mat 24:14 "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come."
3. Ecc 9:5 "For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten."

1. There may be less JW in some areas of the world but their numbers are growing in others. I think that the amount of faith and restraint required turns some off. 2. JW believe that there calling is to spread the Word. They take it very seriously. This is why they go door to door. Again, the world is getting more and more dangerous by the day. This may be why you see less of them. 3. It is my understanding (and I may be wrong) that JW don't believe in ghosts. They do believe in evil spirits or as they might say, demons.

I am a JW and you have had your questions answered great here by many other JWs... :)))
I just want to add one more point.. While there may be other religions that go out and "preach" if you will... They are not making disciples as we are told to do. Where as JW peach and where interest is shown, we go back at a later time and call on these different ones, helping them come to a clear understanding of the Bible. We take time with them. We offer FREE home Bible studies. We try really hard to reach the heart of the ones that want to be reached. WE ARE THE ONLY ones out there announcing God's Kingdom as our ONLY source of hope from this wicked world. Just wanted to clear that up. Take care!

There are aproximately 6,741,444 Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide in 236 countries. We go from house to house to obey the command of Jesus in Matthew 28:19 & 20. We believe that God has a Holy Spirit or active force that He uses to accomplish His will/purposes.

Why? The Bible at Matt. 7:13, 14 shows that the truth is in the hands of the minority. There are almost 7,000,000 JW's in the world.
JW's are not the only ones that go from house to house. However, they are the most effective in what they do. JW's go from house to house in compliance with Jesus' order to "go and make disciples of people of all the nations, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you." (Matt. 28:19, 20) Most professed Christians refuse to do this work. They sit on their hands and accuse JW's of "salvation by works."
Do JW's believe there is ghost? I'm not sure what you mean by that? Do JW's believe in the holy ghost or holy spirit? Yes. Do they believe in ghosts of people who have died? No.

1. there are probably more JW's then you think. Most do tend to "hive around places where one of the 144,000 live. One is claimed to be in a city near Marseilles, France
2. There are many other churches that go house to house, door to door. We just here more about JW's because of how persistent they can be. Sometimes worse the salesman. True story, I knew someone who had them knock at there door after she politely turned them away they keyed a cross on the door.
3. From what I understand no. The body and soul are one, no ghosts. at death both go to the grave to await the resurrection. If you were good you are resurrected into a paradise earth, if you were bad, you spend eternity in the grave. They do believe "Jehovah God" is a spirit like many religions

There house to house work is a carry over from their early days. They have been doing this for a long time. The organization started at as a printing corporation and have always printed so much of their own writings. This was then sold onto the public and the most effective and cheap way of getting the public to pay for this was through the house to house work. Generally, labour was voluntary and these volunteers met their own expenses of the door to door work.
It has been very ineffective in making converts. It takes over 5,700 hours of door to door work just to make one convert. However, the house to house work has proven very profitable for the organization which owns millions and millions of dollars in assets and investments these days.
