i dont want to get tricked again..please help. my back speakers were making a rattling noise, & now i have no sound coming from the back. i went to a national chain store & was told (when it first began) that i needed front speakers so i (under their advice) got four 6x9 Pioneers installed. for some reason, the rattling stopped for a little while, then when it came back, the back speakers went out completely. one company said i needed an amp. another said i needed new subwoofers, & that the labor is very complicated ( 4 hrs minimum) because of wiring issues. i called my local ford dealership & was told that they no longer have 8" speakers needed for my installation, which got me confused, because its going back & forth between amps & speakers.

has anyone ever had this happen & if so, was it both, or one or the other? i just want to have an idea, so that i wont waste money again...i got those 6x9s for nothing else but an upgrade when i wanted repairs.

thanks for any help...

If two speakers are experiencing the same problems at the same time, then the problem doesn't originate with the speakers. The problem is coming from whatever the speakers are connected to. In a 98 Expedition this usually means the radio; most Expeditions don't have a factory amp, except for the one connected to the 8" subwoofer in the rear (if equipped).

My guess is that the problem is in the factory radio. Another possibility is that there is a short in the wiring going to one of the rear speakers.

I don't think it has anything at all to do with your subwoofer(s).

I don't understand why if the back speakers was messin up why did u replace the front ones? But anyway if the speaker isn't soundin cleat then it can be 3 problems....1. The speakers are busted and u need to get them replaced. 2. The radio is old and need to be replaced....(usually when factory is still installed). 3. I u had someone put ur cd player in for u then the wires could be crossed or slightly touching. I would first replace then back speakers. then if still a problem then its definitely ur radio. Good luck.
