IMPORTANT!

Particularly to prove that It was taken on the day actual that it was actually taken...so how do I show that and that I didn't fake it?

The video may have a time and date stamp on it. Also, if its MiniDV import it to your computer, find the file, and right click on it, hit Properties and see what the creation date is.

There is no way to prove this cuz the time stamp can be set as well as timecode. You also cannot prove it was not tampered with because you can take 2+ video steams into lets say Adobe After Effects, blend them, then export them out as 1 stream. Sorry:(

there is no proof. what will have legal merit is for the photographer to vouch for the conditions, date and time of creation, and a trail of custody showing who or where were the chances of tampering. if copies were made, and if the copies are indentical with the original. ideally the original never left your posession, and you can attest that it has not been altered. forensics may be able to detect edits and other tampering but a well made fake will be difficult to discount.
