People would be surprised how similar their religions really is to others. Most of what people believe about other religions is, well, rumors and media. All religions have there own form of truth...but they also all have there own form of misguidance.

You´ll be surprised to find out how much you will learn about yourself too. You can not completely know who you are if you ignore who the others are.
So, yes, understanding others, will help you understand yourself and realising this connection between you and the neighbour, love will grow on a more fertile ground.

Totally agree. I lived on another continent for a couple years. It's an eye-opener and helps you see other people objectively (without bias) and learn to love people of all kinds.
Understanding that we could never completely understand others helps us to treat them fairly, without judgment. It's also amazing to see that underneath our outer differerences, we are all pretty much the same. People are people.

If you are referring to loving thy neighbor as your love thyself, then by all means yes. Of course we want to understand and learn about ourselves, so if we are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, we should do the same. I think it is very important to understand the people in our lives in order to foster healthy relationships. Aside from that fact, I simply find other cultures and religions fascinating.

Partially yes, but more greatly I'd say it involves respect. But, you are right, it's easier to respect a culture if you understand it. And you shoe respect by taking he time to try and understand some of it.

Yes, you're right. I took a world religion class years ago and found it quite interesting. Anytime I meet someone from a foreign country, I ask them tons of questions about his/her everyday life.

Yes. Be aware that understanding them and agreeing with them are two different things here in this life.

It is being harmonious with them, embracing them for what they are and showing empathy towards their perspective, being through them so to speak. It is good to see through different perspectives and be harmonious, this outer harmony will be a manifest of inner harmony.
Yes it is in understanding. Be liberal with others but conservative with self in your path.
