Children are the symbol of purity and innocence. Thus you see that only the pure can enter heaven or God's kingdom. Christ is also reffered to as a child because of his complete innocence.

Do you mean this verse:
Mat 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
The first verse of the chapter puts this verse into context:
Mat 18:1 ¶ At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
And the verse after verse 3 provides more information:
Mat 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
If you mean children getting into Heaven with regard to salvation and what is called the "age of accountability", a person has to be able to comprehend the gospel before being held accountable for their sins.

Jesus took a little child and set him in a crowd of people as a demonstration of the attitude which believers should have to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. A child is innocent and trusting, accepting what he is told by those in authority over him (parents, teachers, etc.) He is also very open in his attitude to those around him and does not bear grudges. We have a lot to learn from small children.

Yes it is in the bible. Some body asked Jesus that ''who can enter the kingdom of god? Jesus pointed at a child playing there and said '' That child can enter the kingdom of god'' .This means one who has become like a child, innocent and with a pure mind undoubting can enter the kingdom of God.

The statement is that we must be as a little child to enter the Kingdom of God. We must accept God's Word unconditionally, just like a small child accepts the word of the parents unconditionally. And I believe that small children who have not had a chance to accept God will enter His kingdom.

I believe that children will get into the kingdom.... There comes a point where they need to decide for themselves to accept Jesus as lord.
Mr 10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

absolutely...a small child who has not yet grown to understand the nature of sin and salvation, etc., can enter the God's kingdom-there are some sects who believe that if a religious "official" sprinkles a baby's head with water and recites the correct prayer, then that chlild is automatically guaranteed a place in heaven for the rest of their life...

There is an important teaching to this that the mainstream Christianity does not have a hope of understanding because a lot has been changed with respect to their scriptures. But since you asked Christian friends about the saying, then I won't make mention of the esoteric value of the saying.

Mt 19:14 -
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
The previous answer is correct in that children are innocent and pure, like Jesus.
