There is nothing wrong with having the good life. God, in my humble estimation, just doesn't want you doing bad things to get the stuff you want. That is why you hear things like "the meek shall inherit the earth."

God wants you to focus on living life as an upstanding human being. The rewards will naturally follow by his hand and not yours.

God fulfills peoples desire for material prosperity indirectly, just like the power plant indirectly fulfills my desire to type this message.

Asides from that, God is just an observer who's ONLY desire is for our spiritual well-being.

Everything else is just under the material laws of karma.

It should be mentioned that a person on a spiritual path has a different sort of karma.

I have not a clue on how that works.

What makes you think it comes from God?
The people may give God the credit, but how do THEY know where it came from?
People make money in many different ways that God does not like, and they get rich. Does that mean God rewarded them?
There is a warped theology that arose in the church these past few decades which basically emphasizes the "wealth blessing" God gives to those that follow Him.
I cannot say for certain where it began, but it crops up usually in the television "preachers", radio "evangelists", and in many "pentacostalish" churches.
The wealth gospel is VERY subtle, and whenever you try to teach the people that believe it how wrong it is, they grow from defensive to offensive quickly.

God is not to fulfill anyones desires for name or fame or money. Swami Vivekananda in one of his lectures had said " Show me a single example where someone's prayers has been answered by God. If in any case it is so, it is because of you yourself only. There is no God sitting over the clouds favouring those who pray and punishing those who do not. If there is any 'God' it is the Jiva himself. He who serves Jiva, serves God himself and there is no God besides that.
Even in Gita also, Shree Krishna says, nither anyone is nearer to me nor anyone is away from me. The God nither accepts vices nor virtue.
So reading all these, I do not think that God provides someone with name fame or money. All these are the result of our own 'karma'.
Again in the words of Swamijee ' You are the creator of your own destiny". What you are now is based on your past karma and what you will be in future depands on what you are doing now.

oneway is karma is giving them. Otherway is, may be they get it what they want. Some people help with their money. For the person who don't, God is teaching them to share what they have by giving them. That's why we say god have no difference in people.

There are so many people never understand that how god is so close with us when he did not give anything to us. If our parents did not give or buy the one which we want, Does it mean they hate us? No, just like that it is with god. By this way god is saying to us, God is with us.When we start realising that, sure god gives us what we want. If he didn't give, it is nothing to worry. It means God has taken the resposibilities for us. He will sure give the fruit when it is the time we get full use of it.

Maybe its not so much as God fulfills peoples disire for money and fame, but gives them a free will to choosw what to do in life that will lead them to the money and fame. And with that free will comes responsibility to either give back to the church or in donations what God has given them, or they will indeed turn greedy and then thats when disire only turns bad. Disire is not bad unless it controls what u do.

God does not need money. God does not grant any boon or favour in return for money. But for maintaining temples, some money is needed. This money is contributed by devotees who think that maintaining a place of prayer well also is service to God. Hindus also believe that service to man is service to God. Thus Hindu temples offer free food, shelter and treatment of the sick free by collecting donations in the form of cash or service..This facilitates pilgrimage of more people and increases the devotion of the people. No more than this.

I think, you were thinking of framing the question in one way and ended up writing like this.

Having said that, God, however is not responsible for anything that one gets or doesn't get. It is the individual's actions that earn what one is getting be it money, fame, shame or ill.

If you know Mahabharath, Karna is a classic example. Though he is good in heart (to stand with his friend till his last breath), the side with which he decided to stand decided his end.

God wants us to be prosperous. He rewards believers who are faithful, who prove they can handle the little things, with much more. If you're the type of person to hoard all your money and make material possessions more important than He is in your life, He isn't about to give you more. If you're content with whatever you have, and you use what you have to help others, He rewards that and gives more.

I agree with Aumji, God allows us to get what we have by our karma, our actions. He does not normally interfere with this because it is part of our free will. If we have done well, it is because of our actions, if we are doing bad, it is because we have done wrong actions...

For example, why would God reward a person who is asking for riches, (a poor fellow) and the reason he has no riches is because he used to horde wealth in his last life? He deserves what he has.

When a person already has a relationship with God, then when we ask, He sometimes changes our fates, like when Sivaji grants different boons.

Krsna cares so much about us though, that He would rather us not become under more maya thinking that we are the enjoyers, so He causes us to realize this faster ;-) Usually by taking away material possessions and attachments.

But one time Krsna asked Yuddhisthira Maharaj to take a boon from Him.

Yuddhisthir immediately said, "please give me a wonderful beautiful queen, huge palace, dutiful obediant brothers, and lots of wealth."

Krsna laughed and said, "why this type of boon? Usually my bhaktas want devotion, not material things."

Yuddhisthir Maharaj said, "Lord, for those who are attached to material things, they do not like devotion to You, because they think that we devotees of You are so poor. I want to spread Your fame even to these persons with poor devotion, lack of knowledge and faith that even they will sing your glories."

This reminds me of the verse in Bhagavatam where Krsna tells the gopis of Vrndavan, "na pare ham... I cannot repay you. You love me so much, that I cannot even repay you with equal love from me, because your love is fixed on me only, and my love is divided. The only thing that gives you happiness is service to Me, therefore it is the only thing I can offer You.. I can never repay you..."

Sometimes God fulfils these desires, of money fame wealth, perhaps to increase a bhaktas faith. However when we love Krsna, He does not trick us with broken glass, when we are so close to diamonds..

we are lucky servants of Krsna! I wonder when I will realize my true wealth completely?
